Nice post, Daxgaz. Although I don't really like watching heavyweight matches, it's impossible not to like Fedor.

and he did win, again. No surprises there. That takes his record to 26 wins and 1 loss. Another interesting fact is that his 1 loss was not a defeat. He was cut with an illegal elbow strike and unable to continue in the tournament. But, do to the tournament rules, his opponent, Tsuyoshi Kohsaka was given the win and advanced to another fight.

I hate losses due to cuts. If the damn thing isn't disabling, then it shouldn't result in a loss. The ref should just stop the fight, call it a draw, and advance both fighters if it's a same-day tournament. If it's not a same-day tournament, they should just have a rematch.

Hate hate hate hate cuts. *rubs cut on forehead*.

Another interesting note is that Fedor eventually rematched Kohsaka and destroyed him with a vengeance.

the last fighter shown was Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira. He and Fedor have fought 3 times. The first time, Nogueira was billed as Prides nearly unbeatable champ, as he had the heavyweight title since it was created. Fedor crushed him. The next fight, Nogueira cut Fedor with an accidental illegal head butt and the fight was considered a no-contest (like it didn't happen). The third fight, Fedor crushed Nogueira much worse than the first. There is some classic footage of a press member crying while watching the beating Nogueira took.

Since their last bout, Nogueira has signed a contract with the UFC. Some say, so that he will be able to compete for a belt without having to face Fedor again. Nogueira is currently ranked as the #3 heavyweight in the world by several MMA magazines.

I wonder what will happen with PRIDE now that UFC bought them out. There are things I like and dislike about each one, but the best thing I like about PRIDE fights is the 10 minute first round.
