He isn't doing a talk about his little stick figures, but about one of the joys of maths and science and his small contribution to public education. Do the writers of Penny Arcade have a something to say that TED would be interested in showcasing? Do they even want to do TED?

I enjoy both but even if xkcd just had speech bubbles choosing a favorite still wouldn't be hard. Now, a fight between xkcd and erfworld would be a much closer battle...

Probably because PA's humor is more juvenile and videogame related? It's impressive what they did with PAX and Gabe's art has really improved over the years, but TED is really not their audience.
