Adam & Joe had a good bit on the same subject, 'public pretending', on their radio show a while ago.

It seems very British to be so concerned about these things.

Living in the Seattle area I have no concept of mass transit to begin with to start to even relate to this!

I could give a f#%^ about strangers impressions of me in these situations.

Imagine the person who actually would care if a complete stranger forgot their phone. I would be more worried about them than the guy who busted the 180 back into his house.
