newtboysays...*quality design. This would be great as a homeless encampment. Each cart would be one secure sleeping area completely inaccessible when occupied, and the homeless would be much less intrusive.

winslowwssays...I certainly see the artistic sensibility there. It's cool and unique, but in the end it left me feeling disturbed. Modifications to public infrastructure should be strictly discouraged.
Yes, I understand that a handful of 3" lag bolts to hold up your shelf and table are unlikely to affect the structural integrity of the bridge, but bridges and supports span the gamut from earthquake-ready to collapsing under their own poor construction.
This guy's modifications are unlikely to cause a serious problem, but what about the next guy who decides to make more serious alterations? The potential risk for serious cost and injury aren't worth the coolness factor.
Paybacksays...This is all well and good for the walkers, but it's the living you need to worry about.
MaxWildersays...Interesting to do in a "because I can" kind of way, but sad to think people might think that's a step up from their current conditions. It's tiny, loud, and pretty easily destroyed by any passing authority.
newtboysays...Even sadder that they might be right, it might still be a huge step up from their current conditions if they're homeless.
I would like to see something like this replace a tent city under an overpass any day, engineered, built, and monitored by the city, at least as a test. That would have to be preferable for everyone over random intrusive homeless encampments.
