Reactable: Live performance @ submixpro studio

The best demonstration of Reactable I've seen so far. Stick with it, the music really picks up around the 1:15 mark.

The technology is amazing. The fact that it's utilized to make another completely generic sounding nnn-tss-nnn-tss-nnn-tss song is depressing.

As apossed to another gneric gutar song ? another generic rap song ?

are you making the argument that music thats structualy less complex is less valid less enjoyable than music that it structuraly more complex? because thats like arguing plane dark choculet is not as good as choculet wedding cake .

allso If you make allot of music you actualy find that making a trance track thats enjoyable to listen to that work are just as tricky as making a peace of general clasical music , RNB , OR gneral song/peace of music.

I dont evan think the dificulty in productoin should evan factor into if sumone should enjoy listning to something , granted u can maby aprecait something that took allot of work but at the same time something that takes littel work can be just as enjoyable.

I hear you Westy, but for me it has nothing to do with the effort that's put into it (although anyone who at least has control over one muscle in their body can make this music). It has everything to do with the fact that I've heard this same exact song a thousand times before.

Of course it's all a matter of opinion. Maybe to you all rap and guitar music sounds the same. Well to me... all: nnn-tss-nnn-tss-nnn-tss-nnn-tss-nnn-tss-nnn-tss-nnn-tss-nnn-tss-nnn-tss-nnn-tss-nnn-tss-nnn-tss-nnn-tss-nnn-tss-nnn-tss-nnn-tss-nnn-tss-nnn-tss-nnn-ts

Super awesome.

As a composer/musician/smurf, I find that most of the music that might fall under "electronica" is the immediate pleasure; it's easy to assemble and instantly satisfying. It's also the easiest way to make money. "Classical" music is the ultimate compositional challenge and nothing engages me so fully as the process of creating it.

Still, I don't think that's a reason to frown on trance/electronica/whatever. Snobbery and elitism never gets anyone anywhere and if an individual finds reward and a creative outlet in electronic music, they deserve nothing but encouragement.

TLDR; elitism in the field of creativity sucks huge balls.

I desagree , to make a comercaily sucsessfull and noticable Dance track is just as hard as making anny other form of music if not harder due to the saturatoin of music in this ganra because of its accessablity.

I would argue its far esear to make money from "classical" music as you can produce classical music of a very low standerd (relative to productoin quality of whats out there) but people will haplily hand over mor cash for it because of the bullshit factor.

allso most musicians make money from doing sound tracks and acompanying music rather than music bought directly by the publick and fact is general trancy stuff is not realy wanted that much , over basic clasical style music or just general music ( the sort u hear in tv programs or documentries or acompanying games).

But as you say , in the end its not realy important so long as the end product is injoyable the complexity is not realy an issue.

Your clearly listning to the wrong aspect of this typ of music , I didnt say that i thought other ganras sounded the same , i was pionting out that in reality they are all simply collectoins of sound waves that are aranged in some cultraly arbatrerry manor that aplies to all music.

the reasoins why people may like some music over others is that there brains interprit the sounds differently and people will ignore certain aspects of a song but for others those aspects will drive them mental. RNB for example often has a cymbel placed in it that to me stands out like a sore thumb and iratates me howver i can aprecait for people that enjoy that music they probably dont particualy notice it and can injoy the other aspects of the music more.

people that injoy progressive or minimal trance ,I would think are not paying specifc atentoin to the specific consturctoin sounds they are simply enjoying the overall aspect and flow of the music , Ie the musical flavor that accours after you have put in all the ingredeants , what is hapaning with you is that for this specifc cake of music you are very sencative to the salt and that is blocking you from enjoying the overall cake.

another example would be when you watch a good actoin sceen in a film if its all composed well you dont notice the specifc sounds , objects items you just enjoy the overall exsperance and have a emotive response to the overall thing.
