Preemeptive Strike Against Google Glasses

In another Washington State first [I love it here], Seattle's Five Point Cafe is the first in the nation to ban google glasses. See why [can ya blame them?].

They will get smaller and become unnoticeable, so all glasses wearers will be suspect. Then they will be put in contact lenses. After that, direct implants in the eye. The tech genie is out of the bottle and, I'm afraid, we're screwed.

It might seem simple enough right now, but wait until they start making models that are nearly indistinguishable from regular glasses. Yeah, good luck with that.

Used to go to the Five Point for about 3 years back in the late 90s. Yeah, wouldn't want anyone filming the kinda antics we would get up to.Semi-naked volley ball at 7 am on a weekday? Not a problem for the management. They truly are an exceptional bar in Seattle and I wholly endorse the ban.

Uh...you go to a bar with some expectation of privacy? Not fuckin likely. You want privacy, stay home. If you're in public, you've got no expectation of privacy.

Not that I'm particularly for or against this ban...but I doubt -that- logic will hold up if anyone wants to challenge it in court.

Another take on this, is how pathetic your life is that you have to be worried about stuff like this.

People of the attitude that they do something, but don't want it know.

Don't do it, or be willing for the world to know you do it. This is kinda the norm people are going to have to accept as the internet merges more and more with real life, and more and more real life content is posting to the net.

If this was a story about a patron suing because their photo was taken, you'd be right. As a private establishment, they have the right to ban anything they want so long as it's not discriminatory. There are no grounds I can think of by which this ban could realistically be challenged in court.

You're probably right, I just found his "reason" to be more than a little specious.
