HAMFISTsays...Wow. It's like a combination of piano and guitar that you play like a drum. So cool.
tremorsays...I said...Damn
darkrowansays...That is made of Win and Awesome
BTW, its a typo... Dulcimer, not Duclimer: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hammered_dulcimer
theo47says...I was the first chair drummer in my high school band all four years, and I can tell you that what he's doing would be difficult on a snare drum, much less having to change notes and make it sound as amazing as he does. Wow.
deputydogsays...Cheers for the typo check. Changed it.
Can't stop watching this guy, amazing.
deathcowsays...i bet he's a 1 trick pony, the Yngwie of Dulcimer
wnewbersays...National Hammered Dulcimer Champion Max Z-T.Not a one trick pony.
personalzensays...dear god that was incredible
bluephoenixsays...if you like this you should check out a guy named Glenn Morgan. he has a couple cd's out there that are awesome. i met him and he played me some of his songs with just the dulcimer and it was phenomenal. sounds better in-person unfortunately
fireflysays...He needs a duet with the ukelele guy...
k8_fansays...He'd have to be videotaped at a frame rate greater than 30 frames per second to capture the movements of his hands.
viewer_999says...It's one of my favorite instruments, and this guy has frightening speed and accuracy. Too bad he didn't pick a better piece to play for this performance; maybe when he's older. I hope he doesn't waste that talent on trying to be the "Yngwie of Dulcimer."
MaxZTsays...hey guys, thanks for all the comments and feedback. i got a whole bunch of audio on my website at www.maxzt.com and also at www.myspace.com/maxzt
i wrote that piece while i was in senegal last year studying with the cissoko griot family. i'm really getting in to the mandinko sound and there are samples on both sites as well as CDs. there will be new videos of concerts that i have had shortly. just trying to edit them down to get them under the size cap. hit me up, let me know what you think. yes.max@gmail.com
thanks again for the comments.
much,
max

Thanks for dropping by Max, we love it when that happens. ;-) And great stuff, look forward to seeing more.
Anlizsays...Alright, spill the beans:
How many unnoticable errors did you make while preforming the piece?
MaxZTsays...heh...i believe five...
messengersays...It's an incredibly impressive physical feat, but I would never want to hear the song again. Sometimes one right note can speak for 100. If the song had built to a climax, it could have been literally awesome, but it just suddenly jumps into the stratosphere and stays there. Going that fast, there's not much room for soul. It's just a demonstration of speed.
dannymcanultysays...Reminded me of ian paice the drummer in deep purple
