Overview of the first launch of next gen space program!

NASA: Orion, will be launching into space for the first time in December 2014, on a flight that will take it farther than any spacecraft built to carry humans has gone in more than 40 years and through temperatures twice as hot as molten lava to put its critical systems to the test.

It took me waaaaay too long to figure out why this Onion video was not funny.

I can name a couple spacecraft that have gone further than Mars. Several even.

Unless they're only counting manned craft.

yes, he is comparing only against manned space craft.

Even though this test flight will be unmanned, Orion is meant to take astronauts into space - a replacement for the retired Shuttle program.

2 things that weren't clear from this video - 1) can it take large payloads, or only what can fit into the capsule? 2) can it dock to the ISS ?
