Movie Openings That Play With The Studio Logo.

This is one of those simple yet brilliant ideas for a video that makes one ask oneself "Why the bloody hell didn't I think of this?"

Movies are:-

Serenity
Batman Forever
Moulin Rouge
Kung Fu Panda
Conspiracy Theory
Sunshine
Sherlock Holmes
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
Gone in 60 Seconds
Van Helsing
Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle
Mars Attacks!

I was actually always a big fan of Kevin Costner's Waterworld's opening with Universal. It showed the globe then it flooded the crap out of it.

That was probably the best part of the movie unfortunately.

Surprised that wasn't included on this collage.

The OLDEST one I can remember was "Cat Ballou" (1965)

I remember "Waterworld".....good call, it just means that there are plenty more out there to do a follow-up vid to this one.

Argh, no! Sorry, but one of my pet peeves is giving musical credit to whom it's due in film scoring... Adagio in D Minor was first written by Underworld and John Murphy specifically for the OST of the magnificent and underrated film Sunshine by Danny Boyle.

It has since been "stolen" to score a myriad of other films/trailers/series (e.g. Kick-Ass, The Adjustment Bureau, Fringe, etc etc). It has a history akin to Clint Mansell's RFaD score; created with a specific film in mind, beautifully fitting, then reused for other films with mixed results. I love it when great music gets around, but I do find it a bizarre experience when I'm watching a film and all of a sudden the music of another comes on... kind of breaks the suspension of disbelief quite frankly.
/nerd rant

edit: "Super" > Kick-Ass (even though the latter was a fun watch too)

Loved the music from Kick-Ass.

But Sunshine was a crappy film, while Kick-Ass was awesome!
Also,, John Murphy redid the music for Kick-Ass, as you can hear that this version is different (in the small details) than the Sunshine one - at least the one you linked.

I can remember a opening of Universal where the planet dries out. But I can't remember the movie :-(

You've rang a very faint bell in my memory bank. I did a search (even going as far as looking up EVERY film the studio has made on Wikipedia to see if it would kick-start my brain).... but NOPE, nothing. I thought it might have been "Dune", but alas, no :-(

I think you're both thinking of Doom, where the Earth fades into Mars.

Wow, this is such a tiny, tiny sampling. It's done all the time, just two more off the top of my head... Harry Potter (all of them I think), Chronicals of Narnia: The voyage of the dawn treader... does a nice blend of the Walden logo into a stain glass window. And yeah, as mentioned, how the hell can they include the LAST Indiana and not the iconic opening of the first?

Oh, and Sunshine was a shit film. Was built up by so many and yet failed to deliver on pretty much every point. So many other sci fi films had done it all before, and far better.
