That's what I thought - I guess they want the cub to be human-friendly. You know, for kids.

Supposedly, and I am not sure if this is true, ligers are much larger than either lions or tigers. This is because tigers have a gene that suppresses lion growth gene. As a consequence, ligers almost never stop growing.

I always thought that crossbreds between Lions and Tigers cant procreate. The more you know...
