Lion Wars - The Alpha Male Strikes Back (2:41 min)

The hunting enthusiast (the one who was almost swallowed whole) was dead, but the professional hunter fired a direct hit when the lion was within feet of his target. You have to feel bad for the old lion.

lion went right for his throat. Too bad the lion didn't just start clawing and biting these losers instead of trying to run away. F-ing cowards... What reason could you ever have for hunting a lion. At least kill lioness.

Well, a couple of comments.

First, not sure about this being a "hunt", from first look, it seems like a "caged" ranch (fences in the background). Those types of hunts are pure garbage.

Secondly, hunting is a normal part of wildlife management, regardless of the species. I, personally, only hunt for food, however, big game hunting in Africa does manage herd numbers and bring much needed money to locals.

Hunters in the USA, pay over $1 billion in taxes every year, and contribute more than any other individual organization, for wildlife and land conservation.

Unethical, untrained, and uneducated hunters give such a bad name to hunting.

We need to get rid of these "Weekend warriors" (such as the moron in the video.) No knowledgable hunter would have to shoot that many times, nor have someone "instruct" them when and when not to shoot.

One shot, humane kill. And, for those of you who eat meat and want to complain about hunting, take a look at how your caged animals are processed before you start in on hunting. In true hunting, animals have a chance... a beef cow has no other option but to die for your enjoyement at the dinner table.

And... how am I full of it? You think there is something morally wrong with someone doing something that man has been doing since day one?

When I say I hunt for food, I do not mean I sustain life by hunting, moron. I hunt animals that I eat.

And, what do you think is worse, giving an animal a chance, or going to the grocery store to grab a pack of ground beef from an animal that had no choice.

Hunted animals are free, free from day one, free to live life unrestricted. Your local burger joint is selling animals that are pretty much "food slaves". And you call me a redneck... *sigh*

Fine, if you wish to kid yourself into thinking that walking an animal down a shoot and popping it in the head until it dies is "fine and dandy", while someone who hunts is a "redneck asshole"... go with it.

Some of us are a little more englightened.

Very well put KaiEr.

While I respect your right to hunt animals for food, as humans have for millions of years, I would question the morality of using firearms against animals that have almost zero opportunity to defend themselves against gunfire.

I suppose it could be argued that primitive weapons were the best hunting weapons cavemen could devise, and rifles are the best modern man has.

Either way, I completely agree it's a whole lot better than the industrialized methods used to bring meat to people's tables.

Thanks for the food(!) for thought.
