Before you Enlist - what military recruiters don't tell you

KaiEr says...

Total fabrication based on the reactions of those too ignorant to understand that one simple truth... It's the M-I-L-I-T-A-R-Y, dumba$$!

First, the whole "lying to cover a drug incident" I find a little hard to believe from my own experience. I was denied entry into the service simply because, over the phone, I "self adjudicated" myself by (jokingly) answering honestly that I was "arrested" as a minor for pulling change out of a water fountain (seriously). Now, tell me again how they are lying about felonies, just to make quota...

The contract is NOT unilateral. The contract states what it states, and within that contract it give the government the right to do those things. Now, if you sign a contract in which the contract states that it may be changed on a whim... it was your decision to sign it, therefore, NOT UNILATERAL.

Stop Loss is pretty much written into military contracts as well. Going in, you ARE informed of your active duity status and inactive duty responsibilities. Why in GOD'S NAME would they have an "inactive" duty, other than to keep you on in case of the need for redeployment in times of war. That's a gimme, folks.

And, as for the Montgomery GI Bill... Oh, you mean you can't use it when you are in the service? You can't use it when you are active duty in a battlefield? Wow... what a shock... IDIOT!

So, the majority of the military is of working class or lower. Hmmm... Do I blame McDonalds for having to employ the less educated and unhireable? Why? Because you don't need a degree to flip a burger or pull a trigger. McDonalds is a fast food company, the military is? People? That's right, the military; used for defense, not for quantum physics.

So, the female soldiers feel that they must come back and be more watchful in the military, than they do walking down the street? I think not. The numbers they give, only point out that there is a .02% difference between the military and general public, when it comes to reported sexual assaults. (But, this is sort of hard for people to understand, when they can't even comprehend the fact that the military isn't McDonalds).

(200,000+/- cases reported annually out of nearly 300,000,000 population nationally (.06%). 2,374 reported in 2005, out of a military force of almost 3,000,000 (.08%)).

It's like... not only can they not figure out that guns kill, but they can't even use their brains for higher level functions such as research.

And... the kicker... "Oh, you mean, we might DIE or get wounded if we go to war?"

This not so much a video vilifying the recruiters, but giving reason to increase the age of legal adulthood in the US. If you are telling me that they cannot comprehend this... raise the age.

Cindy, Not Cinderella

KaiEr says...

Hey... this sort of reminds me of the time when I was a kid and a man appeared in my room one night... just like this. He had his magic wand, and he was wearing the same dress. He also didn't want me to tell anyone either. He said the exact same things to me!

He wanted me:

To be "clean and neat"
To "join in the games" ("Join in wholeheartedly in any game suggested.")
Not to be "too noisy or rough".
Not to "tease" him.
To "Obey the rules of the game and be a good loser".
And... he too whispered in my ear, right before I sat in the chair, "Be a good winner."

He was in a hurry to leave, so I guess that was the same thing as "Remember to leave on time."

And, the strangest thing of all... when I woke up, my mother introduced him as "Father Ted", not "Mary's sister".

Weird coincidince.

"You're the tosser pal!" - Bee Gee loses it on TV (1997)

KaiEr says...

Needling is one thing, but having someone on your show and just trashing every aspect of their music is another thing. I'm no big fan, but I'm sure they didn't come on expecting to be the but of every joke. It is a talk show. You would not see a Letterman of Leno have a group on and just knock everything they did... well, with the exception of Mili Vinili or Vanella Ice (or however they spell it); certainly not the Bee Gee's.

Chinese Kids walking on Water

KaiEr says...

These things are the rage at most river parks I've seen around here. And, no... no tubes, no porous material... just inflated plastic that's zipped and taped shut.

They should have shown the adults doing it, much more entertaining to see some people trying to remain cool while flailing all over the place.

Colbert Report: Cooking With Feminists & Ice Cream 3-Ways

KaiEr says...

LOVED this! Too funny.
Steinem is a walking/talking contradiction anyway. What she did was to belittle women who lived one way of life, while trying to push how she pretended to live.

There is nothing wrong with a strong career woman, and inversely, there is nothing wrong with a home-maker/housewife.

N. Korea now has the bomb - Heck of a job Bushie!

KaiEr says...

Please tell me we are not trying to blame this one on Bush. Again, I am not a supporter of Bush... but let's put the blame exactly where it belongs... On the Chinese.

Look, diplomacy even going back to the Clinton administration, has only landed us with the polar opposite of what it was intended to do. As long as the old time commies stood together (China and Russia) in their misplaced sense of loyalty towards their little brother, the path down this road continued. As long as that threat of veto lingers, there will not be any true action to fix this. But this time might be different.

Blaming Bush for this, would be like me blaming Clinton, because the DPRK was working secretly on uranium enrichment during his adminstration. The logic does not fit.

Lets just hope that the Chinese will follow through with their tough talk towards the DPRK now, and not just fall back in their comfort zone.

The Chinese government has been putting on a balancing act of having the understanding that the DPRK has gone nuts, but they must keep up their longstanding propagandist thoughts to the people, by siding with their little brother while vilifying the US. The only problem, is this time it can have some results that they did not intend, like a full nuke Japan... that's not what they really want.

This week, the Chinese gov. is finally seeing how hard it can be to reign in this monster they have created in the 1.3 billion peoples minds, of the US being the instigator of all evil in the world.

Trying to do a quick turn around, while keeping the people from questioning the actions of the CPC, is going to be tough for them.

When Pulled Over, Remind The Officer About His Brakes

KaiEr says...

If I had been the person being pulled over, and was actually ticketed, I would probably brought up the fact that "leaving the scene of an accident" is a little worse than "cutting a corner".
