Last Week Tonight - How Is This Still a Thing?

RFlaggsays...

I don't get the turn it into a holiday thing. Most people I know work near every holiday. Christmas is about the only one they all have off. Making it Saturday doesn't help either, since most retail and service workers will still be working Saturday. Spreading it across two days and making it a law that employees get one or the other off during the voting holiday could help, but beyond ensuring early voting, not much else can be done.

I can't imagine having to leave my house to vote, let alone, waiting in a line somewhere. Why wouldn't states all have mail in early voting? WTF!

Yeah, I just did my first mail in voting this year and I don't think I'll go back to voting in person.

But one thing that worries me is lots of ballots are voided if your signature doesn't match the one on file. You have no way of telling what signature they have on file, and you will never be notified if your vote was invalidated. Plus signature records are often taken from horrible pixilated signature pads from the DMV. I'm sure they could solve these problems with a little effort.
