A man's last minute with his dog before he has to have it euthanized for health reasons. I think this is shot and portrayed in a way that doesn't glorify the death but rather calls attention to the moment that a lot of us go through.

Touching sentiment. This is what it means to be human and alive.

But the reality of life is that we are all dieing. Try as we might we will all die. For all the greatest technological feats of making we have no bested death.

The earth was here before us, the earth will probably be here after us. The Universe does not bat an eye when a galaxy is lost to a supernova.

In college I spent my evening and half the night driving home and back just for an hour with my suddenly-ill dog. I could hear her tail smacking the wall from the kitchen as soon as I spoke in the entryway. She died of natural causes a few hours after I left.

Your 'pet' is only your pet when you feed him or clean up after him. The rest of the time he or she is the friend who doesn't get sick of being around you. This was hard to watch, 'cause I faced this choice very suddenly over a year ago with my boy Frank. I couldn't say goodbye yet, so he's $till here with us. But when the time inevitably does come again I'll be a lot more at peace with it, having faced the situation & had a chance to say one helluva long goodbye on borrowed time.

It sucks when animals die.. I saw my pets die painful difficult deaths (but they were old for their age). Also I saw my father die from agressive cancer at a far too young of an age. He never got to see my marriage. Or my child. I am thankful he had a few weeks to meet the woman who would become my wife a few years later. I saw him happy for me, and that is what I hold dear to heart.

But.. besides all the pain in this world. I think the problem with people is that they work so damn hard to achieve some vaguely defined 'afterlife' and focus so damn much on the way 'they' think that afterlife should be led... that they forget to live in 'this' life and take it for what it is worth.

The world is not peaceful. There is no benevolent overseer guiding your way. If there was. There would be no disease. There would be no suffering. There would be no starvation. There would be no war. No SANE omnipotent, benevolent, loving entity in the 'beyond' would allow for such a thing to happen. A vindictive, uncaring, or even simply indifferent entity possibly.

I do not live for what I 'might' have. I live for 'what' I have. I live for today. I live for this moment. I live for my family, my friends, my loved ones. I care not for what happens to myself after I die. I care what happens to those I care for as a RESULT of my death. Will they be taken care of? Will they be ok?

Unfortunately no extra-dimensional being will look after them. Nor myself. I won't be there to look after my loved ones. We all look after ourselves, and EACH OTHER. Those that are lucky enough to be alive. Especially those who know to look beyond their own idiotic superstitions, and understand... that at our core, we are ALL the same.

Screw culture. Screw language. Screw the divisive politics fed to us by those who hold the reigns of power. We are all the same at the core. We simply want to live our lives peacefully. For ourselves and for our families. Too bad our tribal/superstitious ways prevent the emergence of an open and accepting society.

As long as superstition, dogma, and greed reigns... society will suffer from war, strife, starvation, and isolation in the dark corners of our very own self-inflicted delusions.

There is no 'Christian' afterlife waiting for you. There is no 'Muslim' afterlife. There is no 'Buddhist' afterlife. What you leave behind are the good things you have done. Those that love you and will remember you. What you leave behind is your legacy. Your memory. What happens after death. You do not know. I do not know. No one knows. To proclaim knowledge is nothing more than lying to yourself and to others for the sake of comfort of one's self. That in itself is a form of greed... caring more about yourself, through fear of the unknown upon death... than focusing on the life you NOW lead, and what you can do NOW to improve it for those you care for.

Peace.

Its hard to really get into this as the guy seems like a twat.

also why are they sad if they are Christians and think the dog is going to heaven if annything its better that it dies.

Allso its likely that these people eat beef and they don't get all upset over the cows they kill (obviously because they never bothered to get to know the meet but still ultimately u killing something of reasonable intelligence).

Granted A pet dog is like a chair you like and use alot and its a change to have it go which can be a shock to people. Its just sad that people project so much onto creatures that are likely of limited inteligence. Not saying that you should not look after or care for animales or evan be sad when they die but as i say if one minute you eat meet and the next you go mental and all philosophical over having to have u ill dog put down that has lived a happy easy life then u probably not a very ratoinal person.

Filming was good though , some of the camra angles and footage of him on his bike was cool with the rain. I did however think the music felt a bit over the top like sumone slapping you in the face to say THIS IS SAD THIS IS SAD. im pretty sure if you are of the disposition to find this sad then more subtle music would have made it Evan better and less cheesy.
