Pyrocumulus Clouds - King fire (N. California)

Time-lapse photography from Bass Lake Road captured a spectacularly violent cloud formation of the King fire in El Dorado County Sept. 17, 2014. The sequence is 502 images taken at 1/30s every second. -yt

If we don't get any water the whole state may end up burning eventually.

Thank goodness the north is getting rain right now. We need it SOOOOO badly.
Also....that's purty! I find it odd how beautiful I often find the destructive forces of nature.

I wouldn't particularly call this "spectacularly violent". If you show just about any cumulus congestus cloud formation as it moves into cumulonimbus formation in timelapse, it looks like a whole lot of shit going on well before there's any rain or lightning.
