Fuck. I can barely type right now as I'm breaking down in tears begging the people in the video to help the poor little boy.

Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck... this breaks my goddamned heart and is so horrifying to watch...

I'm so afraid of this kind of thing happening to my boys, but as much as is rips my heart out to see it, the message cannot be stated enough that drowning is a silent, unnoticeable killer, not like in the movies, and everyone should be aware to keep their eyes peeled for this kind of situation always, but especially when there's no lifeguard on duty.

fuck.

And the title says "almost drowning" but the boy was underwater and lifeless for a few minutes, so I really, deeply hope the title is accurate.

Watch your kids!!!!!
How did no one notice him? It looked like 3 people looked right at him and ignored him.
Glad he's ok...no thanks to his parents. Yikes.

Thanks for the link, Eric. That's comforting.

And I'm very glad his monster of a mother was prosecuted.

I'm always reminded of my oldest boy when he was about 2 and we were in the 1.5-foot-deep tiny kiddie pool standing right next to him. He seemingly bent down to touch the drain by his feet, but as his face went into the water he just left it there and didn't move. There was no jumping or waving or losing control; in fact, he was still standing up on his feet, just in a bending-over position with his face in the water and his arms not moving.

I guess his body immediately went into some kind of paralysis when he was probably still breathing in as he stuck his face in the water.

I'll never forget that horror.

A friend of mine's condo isn't able to find a lifeguard for the season this year, so they sent out flyers saying the pool was closed until they could set up a camera security system to "eliminate the need for lifeguards". I still think it was a weird choice of words.

It's pretty hard to see, but it's even harder to watch. Scary as hell. I'm definitely not going to look up how he is, I'm just going to rely on Eric's reassurance.

*promote knowing what drowning actually looks like.
