Yogisays...I get that Sean Hannity has to defend himself in some way and yeah Stewart can be annoying but he's obviously funny. If you don't think he's funny you don't know comedy. Why all the weird edits?
Also Hannity should be distancing himself from this guy pretty quick right about now.
Following quote from http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2014/04/cliven-bundy-wants-to-tell-you-all-about-the-negro/361152/
“I want to tell you one more thing I know about the Negro,” he said. Mr. Bundy recalled driving past a public-housing project in North Las Vegas, “and in front of that government house the door was usually open and the older people and the kids—and there is always at least a half a dozen people sitting on the porch—they didn’t have nothing to do. They didn’t have nothing for their kids to do. They didn’t have nothing for their young girls to do.
“And because they were basically on government subsidy, so now what do they do?” he asked. “They abort their young children, they put their young men in jail, because they never learned how to pick cotton. And I’ve often wondered, are they better off as slaves, picking cotton and having a family life and doing things, or are they better off under government subsidy? They didn’t get no more freedom. They got less freedom.”
VoodooVsays...This is just the standard "Must oppose anything federal as long as Obama is in office even though he may have nothing to do with it"
I almost want the Republicans to retake the White House in 2016 so we can have a field day pointing out all hypocrisies when they suddenly become pro-federal gov't and talk about how we have to trust our president, when they're in office and spend more than the left *ever* has which has been shown before.
...almost.
RFlaggsays...This. Seriously, if a Republican was in office right now, they would be screaming the same thing everyone else was screaming, that's he a welfare rancher, refusing to pay his federally mandated dues that Regan made last forever now...
They are so obsessed with their Anti-Obama message they are missing their best chances to score with the American public at large. The individual mandate of Obamacare, is their idea, it is funded the same way they wanted to fund it. If they were smart, they should be shouting, "we could have had this back under Bush Sr, but the Democrats stopped it twice, and they stopped it again under Clinton. They couldn't pass their single payer or government option so t hey went with our plan. We told them so, and the American people had to wait all these years for them to come around to our plan." They then could explain why they oppose the changes from their versions like going from catastrophic only care to comprehensive care is bad, since apparently stopping people from getting sick is bad in their eyes... For this situation they should be noting how the Federal government got the land in 1848, before Nevada became a state in 1868 and before Bundy and his extended family was grazing cattle on the land in 1877... and ages before his family actually purchased the ranch in 1948... after the Taylor Grazing Act of 1934 was passed... and even before the BLM was formed in 1946. Their hero, Reagan passed, as Stewart noted, the right to collect grazing fees forever. Bundy is just attempting to make a profit off the government's dime without compensating the government back. They should note how he threatened violence against federal officials... which if a Republican was in office now rather than a black man, they'd be screaming he's a domestic terrorist, and when he called in militia to support him, they'd be screaming how they were all terrorists against the government doing its rightful duty.
The right's hatred of Obama has blinded them to the very things they would normally be for and against, just because suddenly a man (who's probably closer to the Reagan era Republican than any of today's Tea Party members are) they oppose is in office rather than one of their Tea Party extremist...

articiansays...I didn't enjoy this as much when I saw it. Stewart was in the right as he often is, but to enjoy it I felt I would just be serving catharsis, rather than media justice.
I did love the Ted Nugent bit, but ultimately this wasn't nearly as amazing as the Jim Cramer episode. That was something that every politician deserves to go through to this day; true, deserved defamation for hypocrisy and dishonesty.
Hannity just deserves to be ignored, because he's too small to be worth the trouble.
VoodooVsays...I feel I do need to dial my earlier post back a bit. I feel as though I'm unfairly blaming all republicans for this sort of behavior.
The reality is that plenty of Republicans think this sort of thing is nonsense too. The problem is not the republicans, it's Fox News...they are the propaganda arm. It's not all Republicans, Its one group of republicans who are in control of a massively large media apparatus and they are using it to push a narrative. There was a TYT video about this situation too where Cenk blasted Hannity for constantly pushing the rancher to agree with him...instead of..you know..asking him questions and actually interviewing him? Hannity was trying to guide the discussion towards one path and the rancher resisted until Hannity pushed the same narrative for the 3rd time until the rancher gave in and just echoed him.
propaganda.
Not that many people actually agree with Hannity's/Fox's agenda, but they cloak it in the flag of faux patriotism and they know their demographic are poor, old, white scared people and it's so so very easy to pull those puppet strings.
Grimmsays...I think it was to just condense the video...if you watch the unedited version on the daily show website the first thing is they have it split into two videos. The other edits are basically Jon mugging to the audience or him waiting for the audience to quiet down.
If there is a full unedited version I will switch it.
Why all the weird edits?
shagen454says...I wish we could keep this at the #1 spot for several weeks.
BicycleRepairMansays...Rushdie actually called Stewart himself after the Cat Stevens thing and Stewart realized his mistake in inviting Yusuf Islam to the rally. Penn Jillette tells this story on one of his sunday school podcast episodes. Stewart first vigorously defended himself, then hung up, checked the facts and called Rushdie back with a full apology. Couldnt find that clip, but Rushdie mentions the incident here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ThUgpNYr2Oo
VoodooVsays...even if Hannity's conspiracy theory about Jon and this Yusuf guy was true and even if Jon did support him and his views after the fact. It's still a desperate ploy at distraction.and shifting attention away from him and Bundy.
Hannity lionizing this redneck racist criminal doesn't magically become OK even if Jon did support this guy. It's another case of "look over there!" Pay no attention to my fucked up shit, look at THIS GUY'S fucked up shit.
yeah so?
dagsays...Comment hidden because you are ignoring dag.(show it anyway)
Loved it. I wonder if Hannity will ever get axed? Jon Stewart did get that bowtie wearing Crossfire Schmuck dismissed IIRC.
