James RoeThis movie isn't quite as messed up as Old Boy... a Korean film, but is certainly more violent and depraved than anything you will see in American cinema.

The trailer doesn't really do the movie justice though, where as this one is pretty much hey ichi the killer will be a bloodshed.

Man, this looks gruesome. The nipple slicing was particularly cringe inducing.

It's an extremely violent movie, which I usually dislike, but it's so over the top that it's hard to take seriously - even though it's always presented seriously. I really thought the movie had some interesting things to say amid the violence, and I don't think it could've been said without it.
As for Oldboy, I never got to it, but I saw the first part of the trilogy, Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, and it seemed rather pointless to me. The only thing I got out of it was the way it played with my (and I assume most people's) tendency to pick sides in conflicts, but I don't feel the violence necessarily added to the message. I guess I should give Oldboy a try, though.
But then again, I find life depressing enough without constantly inundating myself with this stuff...
