My favourite part @1:10:40

"If I was always violent to you ...or gave you misinformation, you would cut the ties to me and the network would disintegrate. Therefore the spread of some good and desirable properties like altruism and love and happiness and ideas, is required to nurture and sustain the network. And similarly the network is required for these desirable things to happen.

So there's a very deep connection, we think, between social networks and goodness. And actually we think that in a very deep level humans beings assemble themselves into networks because the benefits of the connected life outweigh the costs."

I'm no fan of Fluoride or Prozac, but what Prozac has is a molecule containing three Fluoride atoms that act as a way to keep the body from taking in all of the drug at the same time. I'm not sure how Prozac breaks down, but I doubt it breaks down into the "oh no, it's Fluoride" setup. It most likely stays in that three bonded form and passes out the body. I'll have to look around and see if I can prove myself wrong (remember a molecule setup of Fluoride atoms behaves far differently than that of just the plain atom version--much like Oxygen, the O3 version of Oxygen is Ozone and is much different than its standalone cousin).

this documentary blew my socks off, i cannot believe how educational & inspirational it was & should be required viewing for all school students, not just those who choose to study psychology or behavioural studies.

Love the bit at the end where he said, only a short while ago i had you believing you were a psychopath, and its soo strange that it can flip like that so quickly as it did with me.

bravo on finding this:)

i don't expect people to know this, but fluoride in the water acts just like the active part of the prozac molecule (the Fluoxetine) molecule.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prozac

Maybe most people don't know it because there's no actual evidence of it? Just more CT whackery...like chemtrails, vaccines causing autism, and grays living in underground cities.

Sadly, most people clearly don't know enough about chemistry to realize that sodium flouride is a totally different animal than Flouxetine. The structure of chemical compounds has far more to do with their effects than the composition. Or else there would be no difference between hydrocarbons and carbohydrates, "Would you like one lump of tar, or two in your tea?"

(example stolen from a post in James Randi's forums, and modified slightly).

NONE of which has the slightest bearing on this video. My apologies for allowing/assisting the diversion.

I find that fascinating, because when he said that my reaction was "huh?"

fluoride doesn't make you happy. it makes you slow and forgetful.

for example

Symptoms of Hypothyroidism

Fatigue
Weakness
Weight gain or increased difficulty losing weight
Coarse, dry hair
Dry, rough pale skin
Hair loss
Cold intolerance (you can't tolerate cold temperatures like those around you)
Muscle cramps and frequent muscle aches
Constipation
Depression
Irritability
Memory loss
Abnormal menstrual cycles
Decreased libido

No question that the active part of the molecule is the F.
http://saturn.med.nyu.edu/files/mylab/wang/pdf/Zhou-LeuT-SSRIs-2009.pdf

"All SSRIs possess halogen atoms at specific positions, which are key determinants for the drugs’ specificity for SERT"
"The SSRI halogens all bind to exactly the same pocket within LeuT."
That said, Fluoride isn't a drug. Putting fluoride in the water to make people happy is just crazy.

Seriously, just because a chemical has some fluorine atoms, does NOT make it the same as sodium fluoride. Every study (a massive three of them) mentioned on that page is talking about sodium fluoride or aluminum fluoride. There has never been any legitimate evidence that Flouxetine has anything remotely similar to the behavior of either of those. Look for actual peer-reviewed research, not the crap you get from conspiracy sites.

I didn't like it.

It started off with fear mongering about psychopaths in positions of extreme power with harsh and annoying Zeitgeist-style editing, then shifted to the populace at large with a very tenuous connection between psychopathy and anti-depressants, then suddenly switched into "feel-good-movie-of-the-summer" mood based on how nice "most people" are according to one expert, concluding with the premise that if 5-6% of people are aware of this danger which was never clearly defined, that uhm, OK, no real plan, but, there's the piano music, so feel good, OK?

Or maybe I just don't have feelings.

yeah i'm with you. The happy music starts playing too soon. They barely even touched on the 'fix'

But, you can't disagree with the film when it says... it's up to you, and the people around you to make the difference.

on second thought, they need to give free ipads to good people, and that would fix everything (hugs)

Of course the solution lies with us, and not the psychopaths. But how is that helpful? The first step is for us to disrupt our comfortable passive lifestyle ...... yeah, that's what I thought.>> ^marinara:

I don't like this documentary though some of its concepts are interesting.
The theory of the passive majority being manipulated by the psychopathic minority (i.e.: the mirrored blame model) seems to be a key-token when looking for the source of a problem these days (and it is and has been pretty easy to discard when you come to more detailed studies).

Trademark of a psychopath would be watching this and then analyzing his peers for signs of psychopathy :-/

I couldn't see past the gimmicky editing of this and stopped after about 10 minutes. I'm used to hearing Peter Coyote's narration on higher quality productions and this didn't need the "edgy" treatment to make its points.

criticalthudsays...

yeah the solution lies with us. but most people haven't even acknowledged there is a problem.
that's a problem.

We have a society that breeds us to compete, in a world of dwindling resources and relative wealth. It is thus easy to see how those with no conscience can get ahead, and how the masses will not only accept their cut-throat rise to power, but glorify it.
