TheFreaksays...Whoops...you're truth is showing.

Sponsored by Rep. Daryl Metcalfe, R-Cranberry, the law requires voters to show photo identification before they vote at the polls. After a dry run in the April primary, it is scheduled to take effect for the Nov. 6 general election.
Speaking at a meeting of the Republican State Committee in Hershey over the weekend [6/23/12], Turzai was listing the accomplishments of the state House and Senate, when he pointed to the new law.
"Pro-Second Amendment? The Castle Doctrine, it's done," Mr. Turzai said. "First pro-life legislation—abortion facility regulations—in 22 years, done. Voter ID, which is going to allow Gov. (Mitt) Romney to win the state of Pennsylvania, done."

PostalBlowfishsays...If the goal is to prevent fraud, the legislation should demand that their e-voting machines be accurate, audit-able, etc. You can't even KNOW if there is any fraud happening to those machines most of the time. Instead, you have fraud at a rate that wouldn't have changed the election results of 2000 (ie. less than 537 cases), and you're going to disenfranchise a number that would have changed that election ten times over. Wouldn't the responsible thing be to make sure your vote counting equipment is doing its job right BEFORE going after democracy itself?
Unless you don't care about responsible reform...
bobknight33says...Voter Id should be mandatory because it matters. If some one really desires to vote they will get the id, which they most likely already own.
volumptuoussays...Winger doesn't know what a poll tax is and why it was already deemed unconstitutional by the US Supreme Court.
Dude, seriously, you need to educate yourself. You drive yourself crazy over things that are entirely made up, or dead concepts killed over 100 years ago for very good reasons. I'd personally be embarassed if I were you, and would probably start shutting my mouth until I took some rudimentary political science and political history classes.>> ^bobknight33:

bobknight33says...Please the next time you pollute the air with your garbage - Don't.
An ID is something everyone has to have in today society. If you cant afford the $20 bucks for an ID then you have bigger issues in you life than voting.

volumptuoussays...Again, complete horseshit.
Noone has to have a photo ID to live in this country. Show me the law where this is true. You do have to have a social security card, and that's the only requirement to being a US citizen.
Millions and millions of people in this country can barely afford to pay their bills, and while $20 may seem like nothing to you, it is to millions and millions of people. Many who are disabled and many who are senior citizens. So I guess you just hate disabled people and seniors. Nice. (oh, and poor people. And poor, disabled senior citizens.)
