dotdudesays...Some of the businesses that were looted were also TORCHED. The blacks are not the only residents affected by the hurricane. The 9th ward is not the only part of the city that flooded either.
James Roesays...I don't think the video suggests that the black were the only ones affected by the hurricane. Nor would I suggest that burning buildings following the looting is an appropriate response, however the human misery of Katrina was definitely mostly connected to the 9th ward. Poor people have less mobility than wealthy ones, less marketable job skills, and more to lose relatively through the destruction of their property. In general though, the clean up effort for the entire area has been disgusting, marred by gross overspending and bungling on a local and national level. If there was not so much sorrow tied up in the situation the incompetency of FEMA and our current administration would be laughable. If you have any nice montages of displaced whites or other minorities please feel free to post them, I will happily help vote them out of the queue. We haven't even begun to fix the problems caused by this storm, and the next hurricane season looms large and deadly on the horizon.
mlxsays...The new battle of New Orleans is a blame game: There were failures at every single level. To simplify it for the sake of publicity, like this, is down-right dangerous.

The rhetoric is pretty harsh, but I think this song communicates the real frustration of the disaster, in a very emotive way. Language NSFW.

daphnesays...This is but one voice expressing the frustration of not being PROTECTED by the current administration...one of the main tenets of the Republican Party Platform. "We believe all Americans have the right to be safe in their homes, on their streets, and in their communities."
Where was their protection? Where is their justice?
It is NOT this simple...but it helps bring this issue back into focus. Lest we forget.
