VoodooVsays...that is really old
Sepacoresays...I failed to solve it as i incorrectly assumed this would also be grid-locked. However at least i was right about it not being possible if it were grid locked.
Still, a fail is a fail
Shows the importance of paying attention to instructions.
SevenFingerssays...This was the first thing I was taught in high school. The problem is called 'Thinking Outside the Box'
Jinxsays...If only everybody was taught how to be a genius in high school

soulmonarchsays...Blah blah blah genius test trick question, etc. etc.
Make for a fun 'gotcha' trick I suppose, but it certainly does not test intelligence.
nanrodsays...Certainly does not test intelligence, at least not in the minds of those that didn't get it.
Sagemindsays...As a child we are all taught to connect the dots and not go beyond the dots. It's a simple childhood game but it teaches us restriction as well. Something we carry on through life. Conditioning at it's finest.
FlowersInHisHairsays...That is demonstrably false. If it were true, there would be no new thought and no progress.

Sagemindsays...So are you saying that most people solve this the first time they see it then?
Do most people think to progress outside the box and make corners where there are no dots? Because I'm pretty sure most people feel those are the set of rules they have to start with because that's the way the dot-to-dot game has always been taught to us.

FlowersInHisHairsays...No, that's not what I said. People might not get this first time, but that doesn't mean that it's symptomatic of a blinkered mind. And when I first encountered this puzzle I was told to think outside the box and while I don't think I arrived at this solution, I immediately started drawing lines that went outside of the grid.
