Facebook sucks.

I've had the same experience with ads on Facebook. There's no point to it and is a total waste of money. My ex was running for a board position and target VERY specific group of people (I know, I'm the one who set it up for her) and instead of people she wanted, she got people from outside the country who in no way whatsoever would ever have any reason to like her page. We're talking a group of 20k professionals in the USA and yet, she's getting countries I didn't even know existed . . .

As a business, Facebook seems like a house of cards ready to tumble. As a social site it actually has quite a bit of utility for someone like me who has had a scattered life over several continents - I've never had an easier way to keep in touch with friends and family.

This is only relevant if you are in it for the money. So why do I care

Never liked Facebook. And this rather illuminating video confirms it for me. They have no alternative to monetize their members. The fact that they actually restrict new messages to a selection of your followers is completely mind-blowing.

Just because YOU aren't "in it for the money" doesn't mean that the majority of people who govern and influence those that govern aren't in it for the money.

Therein lies the problem.

Facebook isn't just social media, it represents capital and influence. It's the same problem in politics where you have all these people with their personal agenda based loosely on some sort of idealism; meanwhile, these assholes (apparently beyond your comprehension) are feeding off the majority of people that buy into such a system because they believe it works. Yet in reality it's feeding off of these masses, funneling into a corporation that now funnels that money into politics.

But I'm sure you don't find that relevant either. Or maybe you do. Doesn't matter, I was bred, born and raised by lazy assholes, so I've learned to accept and tolerate.
