Europe's Strongest Man 2015 - Mountain Wins Again! Hafþór Julius Bjornsson

The mountain from game of thrones (hafþór julius bjornsson) competed in Europe's Strongest Man on the 12th July 2015 in Leeds and defended his title which never looked in doubt. Thor not only retained his Europe's Strongest Man title and became the winner of 2015, but set a personal best on the deadlift at an awesome 450kg.

You can see why he's called the mountain. 6' 9". None of the support crew are small guys, they'd all make a normal person look tiny but he dwarfs them.

What always impresses me about these competitions is not only the individual feats of strength, but that they do them one after the other throughout the day. I once met Bill Kazmaier in the '80s - he was a beast and only 6'2".

Training for strength maxes out before bodybuilders continue for form. There's a point of diminishing returns for strength that actually falls back on itself when their muscles become too big to do any actual work, making them actually quite weak.

I used to think that too, based on some personal experiences with bodybuilders, but after some research, it turns out I was wrong.

Bodybuilders are actually pretty strong, comparable to strongmen or weight lifters.

I'm not saying they're weak subjectively, just weaker than someone who was able to stay not muscle-bound.
