PostMortemsays...Great Post!
In my old neighborhood (Yoyogi-Uehara, Tokyo) Yoshihiro Takayama just lived down the street from me. The first time I saw him I had no idea who he was (I'm not a big fight fan), but I did think "WOW, that guy is huge!!!". Finally, my girlfriend saw him and told me who he was. He would walk around the neighborhood, especially to and from 7-11. He seemed like a nice guy he would smile and say "good morning" or "Hi" if he saw me or other locals.
However, he is in a horrible condition! He can barely walk, he limps along and grimaces from pain. Everything on his body seems to move slowly. I saw him get into a car one time, it obviously was excruciatingly painful for him to bend and twist to get into the car. I can't imagine what he must do to get ready for a fight. He must load every inch of his body with Cortisone just to get through the fight. I really felt sorry for him.
obscenesimiansays...This Vid has me so conflicted.
I remember watching don frye in the early ufc's and it was great to see him, but this fight is an example of what can be wrong with fighting sports. Frye can't really compete with the well rounded fighters today, nor can the other guy.
They do have heart, and really big cojones though. However, this is a hocky fight, not really an exposition of skill, so I won't vote for it. Or should I? I mean I did comment. I'm conflicted.
budzossays...Yeah in the old days this would have been my favourite fight but after watching UFC and Pride for 12 years these guys just look like big dumb oxen wailing on each other.
effin98says...agreed. this fight isn't indicative of the level of skill possessed by the best MMA fighters today. Neither Frye nor Takayama would stand more than a puncher's chance against today's best heavyweights. That aside, the aplomb with which these two throw restraint to the wind has without a doubt made for a legendary fight.
Fletchsays...It's like a Rocky fight.
grspecsays...This was a great fight. The two guys just threw MMA out the window and went with some old school fisticuffs.
Nice sift.
daxgazsays...I love this fight, so I definitely up-vote it, but I agree with some earlier posts that it is not indicative of the best MMA has to offer. So, I submitted the best MMA has to offer here:

rembarsays...Great comments guys, I am conflicted as well for the same reasons, which is why I never sifted this match. However, I am going to upvote for the pure warrior's hearts that these two men displayed.
sirexsays...amazing
J-Rovasays...I was gonna post this myself, but I found it on here...but I think it may be broken
