demon_ixsays...Wow. That was a very clever move, to release the first trailer without subtitles Suddenly the whole movie looks different.
EDDsays...^Does it? Wasn't it clear that the humans would be portrayed as the 'baddies' and the "aliens" would be a metaphor for "immigrants" all along?
grintersays...Really?, ..I got the impression that the non-human was lying through his 'teeth' Cheney style.
dagsays...Comment hidden because you are ignoring dag.(show it anyway)
This looks fantastic. I love SF with a moral message and heavy on the metaphor. Also like how rundown the spaceship looks.

From the first trailer I got the impression that the aliens were here, and were a threat somehow, and the government was interrogating a captive to find out what they want and make them go away somehow.
I guess I just wasn't paying much attention, since there definitely are clues, like the woman saying "they spend so much money keeping them here"...
Anyway, this movie was on the top of my list since the first trailer, and the bar for another movie to pass it just got raised
jerrykusays...I'm looking forward to this film, cuz the director is the guy who did that live action Halo fan film.
vaporlocksays...Kinda scamming for votes but here is the Halo film...

ReverendTedsays...I'm cautiously optimistic about this. Blomkamp's work has been consistently engaging in short form, and the style has the potential to really pull a viewer in.
I just hope the "moral" isn't presented in as heavy-handed a manner as the trailer suggests.
I'm a big fan of movies where there aren't "good guys" and "bad guys", just people (or, y'know, others) with conflicting motivations. Life is rarely clear-cut, and I resent being lectured to as if it were.
honkeytonk73says...We have to torture them to 'protect' ourselves.. even if it means they'll come back and wipe us out later. At least then... the new guys will then be in office and will be blamed for it.
southblvdsays...makes me think of that robot police video from years ago:

It should; that's another of Blomkamp's shorts, done in his signature style.
entr0pysays...There's only one thing illegal space aliens are good for. And that's raising our kids on the cheap. *spoilers* http://www.videosift.com/video/How-To-Give-A-Toddler-Nightmares-For-Life
enonsays...For those who don't know, this is based on this short film (actually really great, remember seeing it a while back). Linky:
