Curiosity Rover Mars Descent - Hi-res video released Aug 19

Description from YT:

Latest downlinked images from Mars Descent Imager (MARDI) as of the morning of August 19th 2012. Audio from control room is roughly matched to the video. The images have been assembled into a video at approximately 5 frames a second (matching the rate at which they were captured). Not all images have been received from Curiosity, so this video is incomplete and slightly choppy. However it does show the entire sequence from backshell separation to wheel touchdown.

Nicely done with timing the commentary from earth over the video.

(Just reiterating that there was a 14 minute delay from when these things were actually happening and when earth knew about it, and they didn't get these pictures back until recently.)

I know that in science, there is no such thing as a "failed experiment".
But there is certainly such a thing as an unqualified success. Well done.

Did you hear about the cancelled sequel, though? They were considering landing a Space Boat in a Methane Lake on the surface of Titan.
But no, we're going back to Mars to drill a hole. Booooring.
(Yes, I kid, but dang.)
