gwiz665says...In the "middle world" that we inhabit, the details of this is not important. They ARE important, but not to live. That's why we are easily fooled into ironically blindly believing our eyes.
Consider that a child mind is not infinitely sized; packaging things nicely and easier to digest is ok for a start, but not when you want to dig deeper.
spoco2says...This is a bit wanky.
I mean, the stuff is cool, I just dislike the intro saying that we were 'lied' to in early school to the extent of flat earth vs round.
No, we're taught a far easier to understand approximation that is accurate enough to carry us through our ENTIRE lives if we aren't going to get into astrophysics or other fields where this sort of minuscule level of accuracy is required.
You try to teach kids this high level stuff and you end up them not taking ANY of it in.
This sort of pedantry is what would make for a NOT good teacher, spending entire lessons on the minutia of things rather than what matters will turn off kids in droves.
entr0pysays...I think the important thing to impress on kids is that what we have in science are models, not some perfect god-like understanding of how the world really works. Newtonian physics is a great one to understand, and very useful in a lot of situations. But if you feel cheated that it's not "true" you're not getting what a model is.
brycewi19says...I think we shouldn't mislead our children by naming our science videos "minute physics" when clearly it takes two minutes to explain.
False teachers!
Sniper007jokingly says...But Santa Claus is real!!!
Fantomassays...I remember encountering this exact thing with the model of the atom going from primary to secondary school and then university.
Considering how complex atoms are at the fundamental level it's no wonder kids aren't taught this stuff.
lucky760says...*length=2:41
siftbotsays...The duration of this video has been updated from unknown to 2:41 - length declared by lucky760.
raviolisays...This video is not as good as the others in the series. I totally agree with the black labrador puppy's comment.
KrazyKat42says...Uh, light is NOT affected by gravity. It has zero mass.
Gravity does warp space. A light beam appears to curve around a massive object, but it is actually going in a straight line in curved space.
