Colbert Gets The Space Station Tread Mill Named After Him

NASA astronaut Suni Williams, who ran the 2007 Boston Marathon on a space station treadmill, appeared on Comedy Central's "The Colbert Report" Tuesday, April 14, and announced that the new International Space Station treadmill will be called "C.O.L.B.E.R.T." The Combined Operational Load Bearing External Resistive Treadmill will be launched to the station in August.

So they didn't want to name it after a comedian... I get that. Even though I disagree with that decision, it is at least understandable.

... but they threw out Serenity too? It came in second and was one of the "official" suggestions.

Honestly, what was the point of even having a vote if they never cared about the outcome in the first place? The only reason I can think of is that a majority of the votes for the top two were duplicates (same person voting multiple times), but I haven't seen NASA mention their reasoning at all.
