Close Call With a Lion - Impressive video

While hunting a lion, the hunters become the hunted and one guy has an extremely close call at the end...

Hunting? Its not hunting. These dumb rednecks are led out into the bush and shoot something the size of a small barn then brag about it back home like they are warriors of the serengeti or something. Go out there alone with a knife if you want to 'hunt'. The only skill involved is not crapping thier pants. (Which it looked like a few did when they hears the first raw.) When there are none of these amazing animals left in the world maybe they might shoot at each other and do us all a favour.

hunting for fun is for unevolved retards. Taking pleasure in killing something is just barbaric and these poeple are utter utter fuckwits. I'd root for the lion every time!

why do you live in a house when people from Haiti eat dirt cakes? why do you support paving natural landscape? why do you drink beer? why are you alive? why are you different from others and why is that a problem?

>> ^volumptuous:
Yeah, why the fuck are they out shooting lions?

I'd be interested to hear an explanation of the moral differences between poaching and hunting, specifically why one is okay and the other is deserving of death.

Looks like fucking poachers to me.
Totally deserved to all get killed.

Look if you go hunting a over populated species with a bow knife and a bow and arrow I get it. I might not agree with it but I get it.

But when you are 'hunting' with a rifle, a species that is protected, for some kind of stupid kick then you totally deserve to be mauled by the animal.

ElJardinerosays...

Actually you can hunt lions legally in some parts, they justify it by saying that what those guys pay for the licenses pays for the people working on the reservations...

Personally I would have been a happier man if that lion had torn them to shreds.

Two problems with that morality:

1. Ritual is relevant.

If you kill only one animal, why does it matter if the lethal wound is from an arrow or a bullet? Does your argument stand if the weapons are a 17th century musket versus a compound bow? How about a knife coated with fast-acting neurotoxin? Blow darts? Hand to hand, but you are wearing a high-tech exoskeleton?

2. Omniscient is required.

Imagine it is instead a hermit who purchases guns and poaches the lion, one who has never seen the "endangered species" list. How are they to know the population of lions, or the population of lions worldwide, unless they have omniscience?

Or, if you leave on Friday for a week-long deer hunting trip, and after you leave every deer worldwide falls ill from a worldwide-virus except the ones in your geographical location. That species is now endangered yet you would have to be omniscient to realize what you were doing was now morally wrong.

Yes, killing lions may be, or should be, socially wrong; but you aren't talking about socially wrong you are talking about morally wrong because you said "they deserve to die" not "they deserve to be socially ostracized."

God, stellar, only you can witness the pointless killing of a magnifiscent animal and read some lofty, esoteric bullshit into the act, trying to justify it all.

Hunting involves killing an animal with the permission of both the land owner and national law. Poaching involves breaking either or in this case both those requirements.

Hunting lions is almost universally illegal as they are largely recognized by national governments as an endangered species. Similarly, most anywhere you CAN find lions these days is in government owned reserves of land, where once again you don't get permission to go hunting there.

I think people who think that people deserve to die deserve to die!

Seriously though, it's an interesting question you bring up about the implements involved Stellar. I think I could support legislation that says you're allowed to kill anything you want, as long as you're naked and you use your bare hands.
