I HATE facebook, and hate lazy marketing people who use facebook because they can't be bothered to actually build their own site too.

After much searching I finally closed my facebook account last year and have NEVER looked back and strangely I've managed to live quite happily not knowing about the new stables and feed troughs my friends have bought on Farmville.

A Stunningly good looking cinematic. Well written, directed rendered and animated.
Still, the "magic" of Star Wars for me went with Episode I and it's never returned. Played Knights of the old republic but felt there was too much running around doing nothing..

In terms of great gameplay I still reckon Tie Fighter is right up there. Been playing it recently via dropbox and almost any other game that old, it still holds up really well.

oh it definitely looks polished, no argument there. But what I was trying to say is that in terms of gameplay, it's nothing ID games haven't done 1000 times before. Wolfenstein, Doom, Quake etc.
surely someone in their company must have a yearning to make something other than an FPS shooter.
As for hardware, ID games have always been notorious for requiring high end kit. Even back in the day ID games needed a 486dx not a 386sx, and it's always been like that.

True, running on a console, you won't have that problem. But when I look at games like Portal 1&2 that can take the FPS shooter idea and turn it into something original (that looks great and runs great on even low end hardware) I look at the 1 game ID Games have re-made over the years (remade with polish mind you, they always look great) and find their lack of originality disappointing.

That's not to say I won't buy this, because I might. But essentially it isn't anything new or different to a game type that has more or less been there and done it all now.

This game feels like it's been in development nearly as long as Duke Nukem Forever - I remember seeing early footage just after Quake 4 launched.

Tragic to think that after all this time, all this development and money, they've made a very visually stunning game that looks quite dull and tedious. To my eye looks exactly the same as Quake 4/3/2/1 Doom etc just with better graphics.

So essentially this is Quake 1 but you'll still need to invest an a top of the line new gaming rig just to get more than 15fps.

ID Games: a 1 trick pony that seem to think if they up the graphics enough time no one will notice the total lack of originality!
