siftbotsays...Promoting this video and sending it back into the queue for one more try; last queued Tuesday, September 4th, 2012 3:22pm PDT - promote requested by kulpims.
Fusionautsays...Should rename to: "Breaking Bad - Spoiler Alert!
Deanosays...Yep, "Hank Finds Out" is too big a spoiler.
I wonder how this will play out. He probably can't turn Walter in without looking a complete fool. It would kill his career dead at best or see him forced out at the worst.
moodoniasays...Downvote for spoiler title...grrrr
probiesays...Picked up this show when it was already in its fourth season, so I got to watch it all the way up till now. Really well done story, stellar cast. Johnathan Banks being my favorite. Now we get to wait another year....
But yeah, the title needs to change. I hate spoilers!!
eventualentropysays...Dammit man, couldn't you have picked a less spoilery title? I haven't started this season yet
Lilithiasays...I deliberately did not write "Hank finds out (the truth) about Walt/Heisenberg/W.W." or something similar, so it would not be a spoiler unless people (who haven't watched the episode) watched the video. Hank did find out about several things throughout the series. Furthermore, the title did not state how he finds out what he finds out. Even if you connected the title to a scenario that happens to be true without having watched the video, you probably already knew that at some time over the course of the show's last season, Hank might eventually happen to find out the truth about Walt. The question is, or was, how he finds out, which the title does not give away. It was the least spoilery title I could think of that still described what the video is about.
If I had called the video "Breaking Bad - Spoiler", nobody would have watched it, because nobody would have known what it's about. However, I hereby apologize to everyone for choosing this title.
st0nedeyesays...Spoiler! Spoiler! Fuck you!
(actually I already watched it last night)
Deanosays...@Lilithia
Logically it was always a possible plot development but given BB fans know the show well and this episode was only just broadcast, renaming the submission is very sensible.
Personally I would stay away from sifting a hot potato like this but each to their own.
shuacsays...Are there any other GBs in Walter's world other than the late Gale Boetticher? Someone other than Gale that Walter could claim the book was from? What was Gretchen's maiden name?
nominosays...How it should have ended.
Pardon me for the shameless plug.
kymbossays...Spoiler alert
Am I the only one who is just a tad let down by this season? Breaking Bad is the best TV since Deadwood in my opinion, but previous series have had me constantly on the edge of my seat. This one, I'm just kind of watching play out. I mean, season 4 - come on. That was gripping.
The last two episodes where Walter just becomes the kingpin and makes piles of money just left me a little empty...

I'm impressed that they like to be different. Working for Fring and the eventual high stakes is actually the kind of plot which they could have ended the entire show with the implication that White takes over, completing his ascent (or descent if you like).
If they didn't take chances they would still be stuck in that RV and we might never have had a Fring.
Season [edit] 5 [/edit] was impressive because it was about getting back into the saddle and the writers engineering the plot developments logically from what went before. I've always loved that about the show and the way they still get to focus on these characters and also extract great acting performances. Jonathan Banks was outstanding. And Dean Norris' awkward face when Walter visited his office was priceless.
As for pure gripping tension I think Dead Freight delivered in spades.
I know what you mean by "empty". I suspect this is how Walter feels after all his accomplishments, most of which seem to be about staying below DEA radar. Could they have moved him to a new location and allow him to develop into a Fring-style respected businessman with a dark secret? But then that would be close to repetition.

If Hank reviews the evidence to confirm his memory I don't see how Walter can explain it.

All I can come up with is he bought the book from a used bookstore. But that's so weak.
probiesays...Dean Norris has to be second on my list. As good as everyone else is on this show, Banks and Norris really took off with their characters. SO glad they got to do that one scene together.
kymbos, I agree. They really didn't handle that passage of time well in the production. The first five and a half seasons take place over the course of little more than a year, then all of a sudden, we leap ahead three months with nothing major happening? That was a little cheap. And introducing the Lydia character so late into the story also gives the season a fault. But I suppose they have to get there to setup the next eight episodes. I have a feeling this could be setting up a powder keg of an ending. I just hope it's not a dud.
shuacsays...Nice one, Deano. You're right, the handwriting is clearly a lock but Hank's no dummy. He won't approach Walter with this bit of evidence, strong though it may be, until he gets much much more.
And that's what season 6 will be about. Hank vs. Walter. And a 50 cal machine gun.
