Bodycam Shows Police Arrest Belligerent 18 Year-Old Woman

Burlington Police have released bodycam video showing an arrest of an 18 year-old woman last month, in which the woman claimed police misconduct. Officers initially found three girls unresponsive in a parking lot, likely high on substances. They confront the driver and she quickly becomes argumentative and belligerent. A few minutes later police decide to place her under arrest but she refuses to cooperate and tries to resist arrest. After a physical confrontation police eventually get her inside a police vehicle and charge her with disorderly conduct and assault on a police officer.

I don't see what her crime is for the cop to start the arrest?
If she's initially arrested for running her mouth then why is the cop even on duty if that's all it takes for him to escalate the situation.

All I see in this video is a cop who oversteps his mandate, fails to de-escalate the situation and ends up assaulting a civilian when he should have just let them be.

And the cops wonder why they aren't trusted by the community!

Yeah...because passing out while drunk driving isn't a crime, right?

Was the girl who was attacked driving?
Was the motor running?

Can you prove beyond reasonable doubt that's what has occurred?
No.

Besides, I think weed is the most likely problem, given the cop repeatedly says "gimme the bong".

Was the girl who was arrested driving? Due to video quality...unknown. Someone who was passed out was.
The motor was running.

The girl grabbed the bong, evidence, and threw it back in the car....on video....then made furtive moves pretending to both attack and run from the officers. She also, as a minor, refused to give her parents contact info, another reason to arrest and positively identify her to be sure she's not a runaway.

OK, I see, you're splitting hairs....driving while under the influence then....although I've smoked for over 30 years and never passed out cold on just weed so I'm not convinced it was just weed.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.
I expect police to behave in a far more professional manner than this guy did.
I bet he wouldn't last a day teaching in any high school, just body slam the first kid that mouthed off and end up in bars where he belonged. Yet give him a badge and a gun and suddenly he's applauded for being a thug. Go figure.

We do see it quite differently.
To me, compared to the normal police reaction to belligerent disrespect, I found them not only restrained but polite.
