Great show and good find but this is a rip of a DVD ("XviD/DivX Movie release"). I thought we didn't post complete shows on VS?

The film Pi Sift is ripped from a DVD - along with a hell of a lot more on here (such as more movies, documentaries or concerts).

There are all the documentaries and stuff like that.

I just noticed the guidelines say don't post complete episodes of television shows. Is there less heat from copyright holders when it comes to documentaries and more obscure stuff?

My view on stuff like that is we can't assume the poster did not have permission. If we do that no clip would ever get posted. The terms of service for all of the video sites require the uploaders to have permission. If they didn't that's between the content creator, the video host, and the uploader. There is a process they can go through to get the material quickly removed, and they frequently do.

I don't believe we can really be held accountable for what other users post on the content providers.

The FAQ rule was merely put out to prevent full show postings of Family Guy, Simpson, Colbert and such. If we really applied the rule as is, over 90% of the documentaries would be gone from VS. Maybe it could be re-worded? or something? As such I don't see any problem. I would return it but I would want others to weigh before that.

There are full eps of stuff posted here all the time, why should this be any different? Isn't that what the *long tag is supposed to help?

Lots of the documentaries are BBC stuff where licensing is a bit stranger because of their status as a public entity. The same goes for pbs stuff, like sesame street. I say *return it, my guess is that if someone objects it will die. It's on youtube / google and we never get take downs from large media corps. They tend to just deal directly with google or youtube.

Farhad is right though that the spirit of the rule was intended to prevent full posts of current popular tv's or movies.

Just wondering where the line was drawn re what can be submitted to VS. Obviously it's unlikely that complete episodes of Lost would ever end up here, let alone survive for five minutes on a video host.

It's good to see the documentaries posted but I assume the rule might cover old episodes of classic sitcoms say, not just new stuff?
