Battle Royale - FULL version

"At the dawn of the millennium, the nation collapsed. At fifteen percent unemployment, ten million were out of work. 800,000 students boycotted the school. The adults lost confidence, and fearing the youth, eventually passed the Millennium Educational Reform Act AKA: The BR Act. .."

Siftbot only says it's a dupe if the embed is exactly the same. There would have had to been a true dupe for that to happen.

James Roesays...

hah, it was early when i wrote that. We have a rule against posting complete content, as this is the whole movie it pretty clearly violates that.

ravensays...

About that full video rule... I know its been kind of waived for full length dcoumentaries, but there are also a lot of full length movies already posted here...

Personally, I like having them around, especially the older flicks, which, I think go a long way to enhance my collective, and encourage people to see movies they might not even know about, such as:
Roger Corman Gold- Bucket of Blood
Peter Cushing vs Christopher Lee in The Satanic Rites of Dracula
Roger Corman's The Terror
I mean, I would have never even seen this one:
Der Golem Considered the First Horror Film
Personally, I'd be cool with allowing ALL movies to be posted, but I understand why you guys wouldn't want the sift to become some kind of online Blockbuster video... so if you're going to start cracking down on movies can we at least make an exclusion for Public Domain films? That way, the older, more obscure stuff could stick around.

James Roesays...

Well we don't have a problem with Public Domain stuff at all, and we tend to turn a blind eye to documentaries as well because of their inherent nerdy nature. There is nothing really defensible about this video though, which is not to say this movie isn't great. It is one of my favorites and I frequently pimp it on my friends.

ravensays...

That's good, as well with the documentaries... they're the same kind of thing, if they weren't posted here, I might never even know about them!

James Roesays...

"We really need to revise the "full length" rule. Why not add in an exception for cultural and educational videos?"

We sort of have that already, but culture is a pretty wide topic. For instance this video could be considered culturally significant, but I would say that is a bit of a stretch. It's easier for us from a "lets cover our asses" perspective to just have the blanket ban. However, I hesitate to codify something that provides a loop hole as it will just result in lots of sift talk posts about whether or not x video is apropriate.
