*quality I too am annoyed by the inflation of these clips, but this one is important.
For those who are affected by ALS, every clip helps to raise awareness and maybe even money for research and help.

the problem being none of the clips I've seen have even bothered to explain what ALS is, let along pledge any $. It's more just been a exercise in narcissism by those involved.

Hell, in my country these videos were popping up over a month ago, but it was to raise $ for cancer (again, the actual funds raised are pretty questionable).

But damn right, this video deserves a share.

I completely agree. There are a lot of horrible illnesses out there that need as much attention from researchers, and money, that they can get. But I have a real hard time believing that everyone who dumps ice water on their head is also donating. I mean the 'rules' say, donate or dump ice water, and you hear 'most people are doing both'...I just dont know.

I guess any awareness is good awareness, and if they bring in any more money than they were, then its a good thing?

But the cynic in me then asks...is the money even going to the right place that will even lead to a cure...or better treatment and lifestyle.

@ChairmanDrew

I really couldn't disagree more... they are reporting huge fund-rasing numbers over previous years.

Speaking for the three people i called out, none of them gave to ALS. All took the bucket and then donated to other things. Two were for Cancer research and was to the ADL... because those charities were near and dear to them. There is not a damn thing narcissistic about that... its fun... its raising awareness and its effective.

My frustration is that they don't turn this into a push to write your representative. The few million raised by this campaign are absolutely trounced by seemingly insignificant percentage cuts to the NIH budget. We're talking billions of dollars. Relying on the goodness of people's hearts and distributed contributions will not get it done. Awareness is amazing, but people should be aware of the actual numbers, and how much further just a little action from congress could go. While not all the money will go to ALS necessarily, I promise you it will all go to worthy research. Make your ice bucket challenges a challenge to write congress pleading more funding to be directed towards medical research.

These IBC's are about guilt and folding to peer pressure, I don't want anything to do with this phony feel good horseshit. Some people are better off with a Robin Williams mindset, and I'm not talking about ALS sufferer's, I'm talking about the bleeding hearts. This whole meme is bullshit, and once the chips are stacked we will have another livestrong scandal and everyone will be shocked. Ohh no they won't because by that time they will be wallowing in their next gross abomination.

From one of the links above:

"People are constantly hearing that so called als is termed incurable, and still they search for healed of als or cured of als stories, als survivors and “als miracles”.

Well, the people doing those searches are onto something, and you don’t need a miracle, to solve, survive, or “cure” als. As with any health problem, solving nerve health problems so called diagnosed as als just takes changing your ideas and ways and doing the work it takes to get yourself healthy. In other words, instead of waiting for a miracle or a cure for als, people can solve the problem themselves, and many have done so.

In many places, they don’t even use the term als. They just call it motor neuron disease, which sounds less like some entity attacking people and more like heart disease or something else that people realize is just a health problem that can be solved by making the right choices and adjustments.

Knowledge is power and it’s also the cure for als.

So, by following these links you can find stories of people who have done well at healing themselves, or curing als naturally, and you can find inspiration and information that you can use to heal yourself, as more people are doing all the time."

Can you please stop posting your bullshit woo and misinformation?

While marijuana might help with ALS, there are still no proper studies with anything conclusive on the subject.

As for the rest....Eric is not "winning", he's a scam artist out to sell products to desperate people. The worst kind of snake oil salesman.

Finished off with a nice dose of anecdotal bullshit.
