25 Great Scenes in Film that actually were not scripted, but rather, improvised. Please keep the captions on, as I will explain the improvisation. [youtube desc]

I would assume that it along with the movies made by Christopher Guest which are by design a mostly improvised script (much like Curb Your Enthusiasm on TV) were excluded from the list.>> ^Duckman33:

Strange to see nothing in here from Spinal Tap since a lot of the scenes of that movie were improvised from what I understand.

22) says 40 Year Old Virgin--the movie is Knocked Up.
18) says Tootsie--the movie is Stripes (I think, it's been a long time).
08) Annie Hall--can you really call it improvisation when Woody Allen wrote the movie?
I've also heard what @quantumushroom said about Being John Malkovich.

I love picking movies (and videos about movies) apart.

Thanks, Grimm

Now that I've watched the WHOLE thing. A lot of those were scripted, at least in part. Many of them the actor went beyond the scripted action/dialogue, but they were still scripted, not pure ad-lib.

"You talkin' to me?" Is a good example. DeNiro was actually practising his lines, trying it out all the different ways to see what worked best, they decided to just film the whole thing because it worked so well.

Still, Malkovich scene, totally scripted, there are plenty of scripts out there, look it up for yourself.

A a great mix, but its missing one of the best unscripted scenes, In Raiders of the Lost Ark when Harrison Ford shoots the big guy with the sword, he was suppose to fight that guy but because he had the stomach flu he just shot him to end the scene and the big guy played along with it.

I hate improvised scenes in movies for the most part. Everybody get so actory-y.

I fucking hate Matt Damon's stupid monologue about home life in Saving Private Ryan. I like Damon as an actor. I like the movie as a whole. But I hate that scene and now I know why it always bothered me so much.

While its true that wasn't in the script, it wasn't improv, as they decided to do it since Harrison Ford was very ill and didn't want to do the fight, he said to Lucas, "Why doesn't he just shoot him?" so they decided to just do that.

Good call. on 22) If you'll remember they did it in both movies. That said, I wonder if both of them were improvised.>> ^Boise_Lib:

True, and it's my favorite part of the movie.

FYI: If you turn the annotations on, you get a more detailed explanation of why each scene made the list.

[edit] you might have to watch it at youtube since some of the annotations are cut off on VS for some reason

I couldn't tell you for sure that is from Tootsie...but it definitely isn't from Stripes. He's talking about theater though...so seems believable that it's from Tootsie.
