Timing Belt - the Forgotten Belt

savethecirclepit says...

I am in the cylinder head business. This issue and overheating are the top reasons to prompt an engine to be torn down. I have seen some pretty catastrophic engine damage when these things break. We actually have units that come in where the valve hits the pistons, breaks and on the next stroke takes the broken pieces and jams them into the cylinder head.
Don't stretch the mileage out on these things if the book says 60,000 change it at 50-55. Also don't be cheap and just get the belt changed. I know it seems like video is just trying to sell you extra parts but it is good advice to change the belt tensioner and the water pump. Always go for the "timing set" rather than just the belt. It will seem like a lot of money 300-500 bucks to get this done but when you figure the alternative 2000-4000 bucks or maybe even an entirely new engine, that cost will be minimal. I have seen too many people get burned by trying to cut corners and be cheap. Don't let this happen to you.

Naked hay baling fun

savethecirclepit says...

Just in case you are not convinced that this is fake, just read this Wiki description of how the bailing machine works. I think it would have been quite a horror show that came out of a real bailing machine.

To form the bale, the material to be baled, (which is often hay or straw) in the windrow is lifted by tines in the baler's pickup. This material is then dragged or augered into a chamber that runs the length of one side of the baler. A combination plunger and knife moves back and forth in the front end of this chamber. The knife, positioned just ahead of the plunger, cuts off the material at the spot where it enters the chamber from the pickup. The plunger rams the material rearwards, compressing it into the bales. A measuring device measures the amount of material that is being compressed and, at the appropriate length it triggers the mechanism (the knotter) that wraps the twine around the bale and ties it off. As the next bale is formed the tied one is driven out of the rear of the baling chamber onto the ground or onto a special wagon hooked to the rear of the baler. This process continues as long as there is material to be baled, and twine to tie it with.

Alabama Tea Partier Ad: "Gather Your Armies"

savethecirclepit says...

Wait, wait, wait just one minute. Now this guy is running to become part of the government and at the same time advocating an armed take over of the government. So if he gets elected will he be out front of his new office with a gun trying to shoot himself?
Congressman Barber: "now that the Tea Party has gained strength we can finally stick it to The Man."
Congressional Aide: "but sir, you are The Man"
Congressman Barber: "don't bother me with details boy. just grab a musket and charge!"

I think Sybil comes to mind.

This is funny and sad all at the same time. When I first clicked on this video I said to myself "damn how are these guys are still around?" Then I see the inbred rednecks that they can still convince to buy into this garbage and then the answer to the question is clear.

Rage Against the Machine RNC - 09.02.08 (Speech + Acapella)

savethecirclepit says...

It has been over a year now and nothing has change but the guy in charge. Where's the rage now? I hear nothing but silence now that your guy is in charge and has done nothing but open the same play book and continue on right where Bush left off. Where's the rage now when your guy says he's going to end the occupations, gets elected, then send 30,000 more troops. Where's the rage now that your guy has given more money to corporate fat cats than the Republicans have ever dreamed possible. Your guy feeds the machine with all of our lives and futures and all I hear from you is silence.

Ron Paul on economy: Welfare hurts the poor via inflation.

savethecirclepit says...

Ron Paul is pretty much dead on every time I hear him speak. We need more politicians that are willing to stand up and go against grain like him. The folks that are currently running things are exactly the same as the last folks no matter if there is a D or R after their names.

Molten Aluminum + Lab Techs = Fail

savethecirclepit says...

I have actually had this happen to me except on a much larger scale. I used to melt scrap aluminum car parts in a large smelter. One morning I poured the ingot and it exploded in this fashion, hit the roof and rained molten metal down on me. Luckily, very luckily, I only got a couple of minor burns. Two things, the mold was cold and damp. Now I don't know which or both factors caused the reaction but I started preheating the molds with a torch and it never happened again.
