Mormons Don't Believe in the Trinity

raverman says...

See now, here's a logical problem for me:

If the bible is the word and the truth then it is an absolute. It cannot be changed or added to or reinterpreted. It is set in stone - or more - it is set with the omnipotent will of god. Hence why you're able to quote it with such conviction.

And yet... That would suggest to me that if a man were to walk up to me today an claim to be a prophet from god. He is either a false prophet or insane. For that would allow him to 'amend' the word and the truth and the law - which surely, cannot be? For if the word can be changed and added to by man, then it cannot be an absolute. It becomes subjective. Competing amendments can exist. The Bible becomes a guide based on the latest prophet's interpretations of visions.

So what's different if a man claims to be a prophet happened less than 100 years ago?

Even rejecting the council of Nicea highlights a belief that the bible is an optional subjective interpretation - there for NOT a quotable absolute truth.

Having seen this on a flight, it has the nice side effect of everyone having a chuckle together, being distracted, and relaxing before take off... when people are usually tensing up to get ready for it.

Misconceptions About Temperature

@GeeSussFreeK that's a brilliant idea.

I'm gonna make millions! It's like a George foreman grill, with copper sheets on springs (for contact but not pressure) with little fans top and bottom adding gentle convection of temperature controlled air.

Misconceptions About Temperature

...Makes me curious to experiment... If you put steak on one and leave the other in the packet both at room temp... How much faster is the defrost time? 100%? more? is there a known ratio for these things?>> ^Sagemind:

Also, I have a defrost board in my kitchen.
It's the same as a cutting board except it's made of aluminum and it has feet to maximize the heat transference.
It increases the defrost time of things like frozen meats and also affects the cooling times of things like a hot bowl of soup or something that comes out of the oven.
When you place something frozen on it, it practically freezes itself. The feet exposes the underside to the open air so it can expel the cold quicker. If it was flat on the counter, the whole thing would ice over.

4.5 hr flight from London to Sydney

raverman says...

Commercial application is all about the intersection of increased profitability for a business and the factors people want to pay for.

Fast is a factor but only one factor. People want faster but they are also scared of fast, but likewise they'd rather flights we're cheaper, had more leg room, had better amenities etc. Businesses want to move more people at a time at less cost - especially if they are going to start paying for CO2 and increasing fuel costs.

You get so far and then improving a single factor just has diminishing returns unless you totally disrupt the whole model.
