Tomte - Norden Der Welt
We need more German music on the Sift. Danke!
Ghostbusters 3 (with ukelele, drums, and melodica)
Kazoo? that's a Melodica! There are a number of ukulele/melodica songs on youtube. Wish you could hear the uke better.
White Sands, New Mexico USA
Definitely a fascinating place to visit. Even better--camp there (requires a short, <1 mile, backpack) and spend the night on the dunes. If there is a full moon, you can see for miles.
Modern Candle Wicks Are a Marvel of Engineering
Answers questions I have thought about for a long time (and some I never thought to ask)
Betty Boop's Halloween Party (1933) Colorized Version
Couldn't they have at least colored the pumpkins orange?
The Hangman - Maurice Ogden (1964)
Certainly this is *long (not no so long that I didn't watch the whole thing). Never tried one of these invocations, let's see what siftbot thinks about it...
BARDOU-The Alchemist's Dance
So long as that isn't a form of self promotion!
Thanks.
The Dandy Warhols - Bohemian Like You
A song my teenage son got me hooked on. Which I thought was cool.
Unusual evidence from a drug bust
Cleaned up a meth lab in Phoenix where there was a bucket of those things, including a couple that might have been bigger. There were videos showing them in use and the cops had them on the TV the whole time we were there, looking for "evidence" (there was a scene with several people snorting some white powder). Eventually the tapes were returned to the woman of the house, which must have been a little embarrassing.
ABBA - Gimme Gimme Gimme (A Man After Midnight)
Wasn't familiar with the song (and I heard plenty of ABBA back then), but there's a snippet there that is a lot more familiar (and on my iPod). Had no idea that was borrowed.
Greg Brown at Englert Theatre
Ahh, memories of the early days of Prairie Home Companion...
"Walking the Beans" really meant something to me back then and it was one of the first songs I bought on iTunes.
Flight of the Conchords - Sello Tape ( A CAPPELLA? )
ahh, the Carleton Singing Knights from my alma mater...
I prefer Sufjan Stevens' Chicago, but then I am not familiar with this song
Maggot in head
Finally a video version of "Jerry's Maggot", my favorite chapter in a book called Tropical Biology. Jerry let it grow until it came out on its own...
Ooh, Meth
Having been to more meth labs than the average person (around 300), I have to say I *never* saw a really clean house. Quite the opposite in most cases. Piles and piles of stuff everywhere.
Declassified U.S. Nuclear Test Film #32
Ahh, July in Nevada. These were the last US above ground tests and you might recognize Robert Kennedy as a witness.
