Why Radio & Music Industry Sucks Nowadays

id49606 says...

You don't know Dick Dale? Seriously? That's kinda sad.

Aside from that, Music has existed for no one knows how long. Major movements traveled from country to country in a matter of months, or even weeks, during the middle ages. We'll survive without the record industry.

A possible problem I see for the future is that distribution companies(the guys that allow small time music acts to put their stuff on the web) like to make their own formats, to keep better control over their medias. Without larger figureheads standing in the middle of that, we're going to see some difficult battles over the most used format. And to the victors of those battles, go the new keys to the same broken down kingdom...

Is this like the liberal Glen Beck?

Kinda, except even worse at trying to place all the blame on an entire political party he doesn't like, and that democrats aren't really liberals. It'd be an improvement if he could argue as well as Glen Beck. Is he really the best they could find to be the uber paranoid, "I'm the only one that speaks the truth." gas bag to speak for the media's idea of "liberals"?

This is pretty hilarious and scary at the same time. Scary cause this kid's now going to spend the rest of his life being told he's going to be a preacher. Hilarious cause that's pretty much exactly what preachers say up there anyway.

Pirate Bay: Guilty

>> ^CaveBear:
Oh, I see. It's okay to steal stuff if you can't afford it.
You guys just don't get it because you have never made anything that was pirated. Your viewpoint is from the pirate side.

That's not a logical arguement either, I'm afraid. Stealing because you can't afford something isn't right, but sometimes needed. Millions in food, water and medicine are stolen from their righful owners all the time. Medical companies fight generic pharmas to keep them from distributing needed medicins so brand name pharmas can make higher profit margins.

But let's get to the more reasonable arguement of protecting property. Theft and alternate means of less than legal distribution are always important parts of society. It prevents large scale companies from being able to say "we have it and you can only get it here, and there's nothing you can do about it." Civil disobedience isn't how the US gained independence from oppressive land barons and parliament. Facilitating civil disobedience isn't how most of our early presidents gained enough fame to make it into office, right?

I'm sorry you had something stolen from you that could have made you more money. But now you make iphone games, which actually benefits me and a lot of my friends that don't steal applications or media(all my music is vinyl, thank you). Wait, that's not true. I "stole" an animation program I needed to pass several of my college courses. But there's never any excuse to steal something, or to show someone else that lateral thinking isn't the only answer.

Sexy Canadian Maids -- Hookers?

Ahh, gotta love the young turks. Such a logical line of thought. If you're willing to clean in less than a 4 piece pant suit, you're a hooker. Cause lord knows strippers, who actually take off their clothes, always go fuck some guy for money after her shift is done. And these guys are supposed to be presenting the real news, that bigger news stations are afraid to show.

Generation M: Misogyny in Media & Culture

id49606 says...

chilaxe: Agreed. This isn't a pandemic, this isn't some eye opening theory. This is the same bullshit since "culture" began. Nostradamus got famous in his time for marketing a teeth whitening formula he invented. Celebrity women of those times had such low necklines, they'd show nipple if they didn't have a typical breast size. The roman culture was all about vanity, even in politics. Egyptian queens wore little more than cheese cloth and jewelery for ceremonies.

These are all cultures where it's undeniable that women were possessions, and were beaten regularly. Often because their husbands or masters couldn't beat the men that made them angry.

Xax: You haven't come up with a clever argument. "Children" isn't a uniform term everywhere in the world, which makes it a useless ejaculate. The argument you're trying to make is invalid as it is. One being as example of parasites trying to make gains on an already heavily exploited market. The other example being designed for knee-jerk reaction to a problem you aren't actually addressing. "Think of the children" has become the new Godwin's law.
