Rogue One: A Star Wars Story - Celebration Reel

coolhund says...

I think SW7 was enough parody.
But looking at Star Trek, I guess we will see more of that...

I say this with the greatest of reverence; someday, Ben Stiller needs to make a parody of the Star Wars film-making genre; the same way he did for Apocalypse Now and every other "Hollywood Epic War Film" with "Tropic Thunder"...

Islamophobia...Now there's a pill for that!

coolhund says...

I think we can agree that in the early ages of Islam it was very promising. Math, medicine, etc, all came from there.
That doesnt change how its interpreted today, and they even say themselves publicly that the Hadithes are more important than the Koran, because they show Muslims how to live Islam, yet they dont live after the things you mentioned for example. And honestly, I find the Hadithes much worse than the Koran, but both together make it very logical how Muslims act.
I never understood it before. For example I tried to make friends with a lot of them, even my dentist was one, but I never got really close to them. They never let me. Until I realized how disrespectful and insulting they talk about me and other "unbelievers", after I learned some Turkish and Arab words. And even still then for a long time after I thought "Its just these guys", but more and more experience with others, analyzing how they treat not only me, but all these "unbelievers" and ultimately the study of those writings was like a revelation. I was shocked, to put it mildly. It all fits together. Everything.

I'm impressed Unlike @newtboy, I don't automatically assume you're lying and feel compelled to do a bit more reading myself before discussing it further.

It's been a long time since I studied it at Uni, and even then we never studied the entire Koran (a one semester course would not have been sufficient for that).

There is, of course, some disagreement about what the hadiths say. The one that immediately springs to mind is "Seek knowledge even as far as China", and I'll quote the former prime minister of Malaysia here:{quote}A hadith says: “Seek knowledge even as far as China.” It was pointed out by detractors that this was just a saying of the Prophet and it was not a command from God. When they disagreed with a particular hadith, they were quick to discredit it and refused to acknowledge it as a source of Islamic teaching. But if they subscribed to it, then they would not cease to highlight it repeatedly, even if it’s authenticity is doubted. Surely seeking knowledge in China does not mean Islamic knowledge. During the Prophet’s period, China was also known to have deep knowledge in such fields as medicine, literature and paper, explosives and many others.{quote}

Certainly the early muslims were very keen on acquiring knowledge, and did indeed travel as far as China to do so (and brought the art of paper making back with them).

Yes I did, it was very tedious because of the writing style. Its pure indoctrination, intended to. Even I felt like I have to think like that after a while.
I read every translation, there are nice sites that provide each translation side by side. But in essence they all say the same thing, and the translations only prove how Taqiyya is even used in some translations. For example, everyone knows what "hit them on their necks" means.

Just out of curiosity, have you read them yourself? Which translation?

Ah, the usual apologistic crap and generalization while crying about generalization.

Sorry if I learned to not make myself much work to prove ignorant and idealistic extremist people like you facts. They get ignored anyway. Theres a simple search you have to do, if you know how to use the Internet. There you will get all the facts.

Facts are facts. If you like them or not. If you dont like them, you should become a politician.

You should have read my second comment. Read the Koran and the Hadithes before you spew out such bullshit. The Bible reads like a story, the Islamic writings read exactly like a manual, how to live Islam, and its a very successful indoctrination method, as you would know if you have ever something to do with Muslims and saw them how they act if they think non-believers dont watch them or hear them. Another thing that is described perfectly in the Hadithes, even with murder: Taqiyya. Not to mention that you cant compare the modern Christian world with the modern Islamic world. If you seriously compare them both (and yet I dont like ANY religion), then you just show how audacious you are to talk about things you have no clue about whatsoever. Stop wasting my time and inform yourself properly instead.

And yeah, not all Muslims are like that. But the vast majority and even the ones you think they wouldnt be that way, suddenly expose themselves as full blown Taqiyya users. Theres a few cases in German media right now, who they thought were well integrated, but they actually are extremely conservative Muslims.
If you knew any Muslims well, you would know you cant trust them, because lying to unbelievers and disrespecting them because of their lack of belief in Islam, is their duty as a good Muslim.
Maybe you will learn the hard way. If you reality denying leftists get your way, you surely will.

Have any credible links to these percentages? I am assuming these comments are in reference to a specific event. And my point still stands, hating an entire group of people for the actions of only a few in that group is irrational and possibly racist. But hey, if you ever come across someone who's been raped by a non Muslim, feel free to let them know that their violation was much less statistically likely. I'm sure they'll thank you for it.
Both the Bible and the Quran have passages that exhort the reader to do things that would be unacceptable in the modern world. Yet I doubt you think all or most Christians are bad because of what the Bible says. So, no, the Quran really doesn't mean anything in that respect.

Oh, I am pretty sure if the percentages of Swedes raping women would be as high as Muslims raping women, they would.
Math is really hard for some people when ideology comes into play, it seems.

And yet, if they were raped by other Swedes they probably wouldn't be terrified of all other Swedish people, go figure.
Also, I wonder if the Uber driver had shown up driving a regular cab would they have even batted eye.

Bill Maher: Is Donald Trump a Con Man?

coolhund says...

Sorry, English is not my first language. I meant hes more open about lying. He says things more straight out, without thinking.
I can understand why people tend to like him in a society that is essentially based on lies and corruption.

Others try to hide their lies very well that even people like you believe things they say or said (even after several terms still) but you really cant tell anymore what their real intentions are. I am still puzzled about Obama. He shocked me so much, yet sometimes he still does good things and you see that stuff shimmer back through that he said in 2008.

Understanding The Pedophile's Brain

coolhund says...

Funny thing is, it has been proven that there are also a lot of irregularities in the brains of other criminals. So yeah... I think youre right, but not quite there yet.
Cause and effect is massively underused in our society, and the guy explained why. We tend to see things much simpler than they really are. Which is mostly the fault of religion and media (good and bad bullshit, which effectively shuts out differentiated thinking).

newtboy said:

10-15 IQ points BELOW AVERAGE?!? That means gorillas and birds may be more intelligent.

If this study is correct, and pedophilia is a brain disorder, that means by law we need to excise all pedophiles from prison and put them in treatment/mental hospitals. Suddenly, prosecuting pedophiles is a violation of the American disabilities act.
Putting people in prison/to death for physical deformities is not what we do in a free society.
I hope these findings are a step towards an effective treatment.

It does seem that we, as a society, are so disturbed by their actions that we create restrictions for them on release from prison that invariably put them back in, restrictions like where they can live, work, walk, who they can talk to, often not allowed to use computers, etc. It seems to me that if we're going to hold their crimes against them for life in that way, we should maybe simply make it a death penalty crime and quit pretending we think we can rehabilitate them when we don't really think that.

Idiocracy explains Trump voters

coolhund says...

Only problem is that he never had a chance because hes too radical in the opposite direction, which pretty much proves what I said in terms of that he doesnt offer better solutions. Hes a dreamer. Admirable, but ultimately a failure, since he doesnt see reality. You cant go in with a crowbar, no matter which side youre from.

Idiocracy explains Trump voters

coolhund says...

Exactly. There have been more than enough examples of it in history.
And thats why I am shocked how opposing politicians and media still treat people like Trump the same way that only paves the way for them exactly like those historical examples show.
They dont offer better solutions, they dont get more honest, they are not less corrupt, they dont listen more to normal people, they are not less hypocritical. They just attack them on the same level as they are.

Mordhaus said:

I don't think we can lay the ascendance of Trump at the feet of Idiocy. You see, people who are scared and angry of change have a tendency to 'flock' around a possible leader who promises them a return to the good old days. I mean, look at leaders like Mussolini and Hitler, people were suffering from the punitive effects of reparations from WW 1 and flocked to demagogues who promised better days.

This tendency to flock is littered with examples throughout history. The people not scared of change tend to look at those affected by the phenomenon and scold them for being out of their 'flocking minds'.

tl;dr
Yes, I absolutely wrote two paragraphs to get in a pun.

Bill Maher: Is Donald Trump a Con Man?

coolhund says...

Hes more open about his lies. Thats about it.
There have been many revelations about politicians which showed that they are liars and often pretty much criminals and even mass murderers. I myself remember having huge hopes in Obama, and then he turned out to be no better than Bush in his foreign policy. Giving him the peace prize was much worse than some "Trump products", because it was from other people. He pretty much conned them into giving him that prize. Just look at what we have today all over the world. So I still dont see much difference.

newtboy said:

Not exactly.
Yes, most other politicians are liars (although I have yet to see a single charge of lying stick to Bernie) but Trump is head and shoulders above others in this one respect.
Just look to his 'victory speech' where he brought out Trump water, wine, steak, magazine, etc., each and every one of which turned out to be a fraud. Why do that? It's INSANE, making up easily fact checked lies to show how successful you are? WTF?!?
Or just look at his book, where he clearly tells you that his 'success in business' comes from hyper exaggeration and outright lies to trick people into deals with him, reneging on deals once he gets what he wants out of them, and attacking anyone that brings up his past lies or promises with such vitriol and outrageous threats that they invariably just go away rather than have any further dealings with him. That's not success at business, that's success at douchebaggery.

So yes, most others also lie, but no where near at the level or consistency we see from Trump. If he tells you something about ANYTHING, it's at least an 80% chance that the opposite of what he told you is the actual truth. That is a large difference from 'any other politician who tries to get your vote'.
