Building sturdiness test #083 - Tornado

cloudballoon says...

I see it's less of a "building construction " fail, rather a "construction regulation" fail caused by the construction industry lobbyist.... if the construction is built within regulation.

Always amazes me that, year-after-year, that we see these around the "Tornado Alley" areas.

Bidenmomics

cloudballoon says...

Bob thinks Biden not referring to himself in 3rd person like Trump does all the time means Biden's not talking about the economy, LOL. Mindless cultist only wants to be lead, not to have independent thought, and they're like Sleepy Don, they're too lazy to verify lies and rather make up facts, statistic be damn!

I'm a Canadian, and damn I wish we here across the border is doing as well as the USA. The exchange rate (for us) against the USD is down the toilet, inflation is several times higher than the USA and far from being in check. The labor market is weak as shit. I mean, just look outside of your border and be thankful the USA got through the pandemic years to freak good.

Train Drifting Meme

True, true. But "Toy Train Drifting Meme" got a snappier ring to it than "Scale Model Train Drifting Meme" IMO though.

That’s “Scale Model” sir, not “toy”…it isn’t Thomas!

Last year, I was in an office waiting outside a small restroom in a hallway. The guy finally came and got scared of me. Haha.

Deadpool & Wolverine | Trailer

cloudballoon says...

The only good multiverse story is one where a psycho goes to all the multiverses and massacre every single "self" then some, then all the killings' done, he call himself a hero.

The MCU pretty much lost me around the 2nd Avengers, the interconnectedness of all the movies turned me off going to the theatres to watch the MCU films, but I did kept on streaming the follow ups until the Eternals.

Crosswalk Visibility Insurance

cloudballoon says...

What's so "seen" about carrying a (foam) brick to cross the road? That drivers would be afraid the pedestrian will throw the brick at them for not stopping and purposely run him/her/(pronoun) over?

Those fake bricks are probably germ incubators even for a short term. And I wouldn't be surprised assholes would just stick all kinds of gums, mucus and phlegm all over the bricks for "giggles" ... almost EXPECTED nowadays. And what about what's gonna happen if a pedestrian with the brick in case a close call? Is the "safety campaign" trying to legitimize throwing bricks at cars?

The whole idea is just problematic to me as a safety/social experiment.

Just be careful, look both ways before crossing and stop looking at the phone while crossing for a few seconds should do the trick.

Yes, we can argue that onus is on the drivers to avoid pedestrians getting hurt. But it's ALWAYS the pedestrians getting hurt/killed in accidents, rarely the other way around. I wouldn't leave MY life in other peoples hands whenever I cross a road, having the right of way or not.

Why Do We Sign Up To Marriage Forever

cloudballoon jokingly says...

That's so un-American, ooops, I meant so "American Born Again Evangelist" of you.

newtboy said:

I bought my home and car outright.

Maybe that’s why my marriage has lasted 26 years so far. I don’t jump into permanent situations pretending they’re temporary or that I can walk away and make them someone else’s problem eventually.
I also never assumed there would be no issues and our marriage (or home or car) would be conflict free perfection.

The 3rd line

cloudballoon says...

Respect!

For me,

1st line: That's a line I say often, but she just goes doe-eyed on me.

2nd line: never said it.

3rd line (word): somehow I always follows up with "damn it!"

newtboy said:

I think I said them before we were married too.

Consequences- Once she said “I didn’t do it, you did”…she was right, once she said “I did, now you”. You get to figure out what lines she replied to.

We’re still married 26 years later.
