Well, three bits of irony here that I'm surprised Cenk didn't mention:

He doesn't actually appear to be "looking you in the eye" on the closeup. He's looking over your right shoulder. He is looking you in the eye on the main picture, however....as do most newscasters, pundits, and blowhards.

"No one is standing guard (for the integrity of your government) anymore!"
Said on Fox. Nice. Well done. Bravo. <slow clap>

"They keep telling you you don't have a voice" etc.
WTF? This being told to you by a guy on national TV who has a high-school education and started his career in broadcasting after winning a contest.

QM: Straw man.

While the left campaign to smear Bush is certainly rabid in intensity (and I happen to concur with that), if anything, I think most left-leaning people hoped that *nothing* really bad would happen to America because they supposed that he and his administration would no doubt fuck up whatever response was deemed "necessary" and make things infinitely worse. Unfortunately, a few really bad things did happen and their worst fears were realized. Seize the opportunity and slam the guy? Absolutely.

It is idiotic and wholly disingenuous to suggest that people wanted bad things to happen to their own country just to make a village idiot look like....well: a village idiot. He managed that just fine at the best of times; ask any comic.

But then, being a troll, you knew that, didn't you?

I have to agree. It would seem that biological evolution takes a species only so far, and even then only in an environment that doesn't change too quickly. When it does, by "natural" means or otherwise, it's extinction time.

Technology lets us step off of the Evolutionary treadmill. Most everything we have today we owe to our ingenuity as a species.

No, it's not perfect. Yes, it's dangerous.

...and we will only survive if we are worthy. I think that's a pretty healthy and proven model to grow a species by.

I hope a lot of people see this and are moved by it. If she's off the mark, it's not by too damn far imho. Even sitting just north of the border, I'm starting to get more than a little nervous.

Thanks for getting it out there CP.

I now feel an overwhelming urge to go send my kids off to fight in a very profitable war, run up my credit card debt and pay it off working for a person I despise, watch more TV, drive my SUV to the gym, go to church on Sundays and hate everyone who doesn't, vote for McCain because he says so, attack people not ideas, drop in and tune out, buy more stuff I don't need, stop reading anything but what I'm asked to by others, and await the End of Times.
