People who look through a religious lens will come up with different answers than people who look though a secular lens. The lens is just as important as the question. Innate meaning is also very different from man made meaning and will lead to completely different answers to these questions. I really don't understand why some people don't think being religious makes a difference in their world view.

The state cannot endorse religion. That "douchebag" atheist has a good case and I'm extremely glad he is taking this issue on. Religion needs to be challenged by secular law every time it oversteps. Whether it oversteps by encroaching on the separation of church and state or protecting pedophile priests, religion must be consistently be held to secular laws.

How many times have we heard "The gunman then stalked from room to room killing as he went" or something similar. I understand that it takes training to efficiently draw a gun and fire in a matter of seconds but many of these shootings involve a gunman stalking from one room to another shooting unarmed people at point blank range over a period of several minutes. To say that a concealed carry is worthless in a situation like this is ignorant. There is no point in arguing hypotheticals. There IS a point in conducting scientific expirements under varying situations. That is certainly not going on here. If it is possible for someone to pick up a cell phone and dial 911 in a situation like this it is possible for someone to draw a gun and defend themselves and the people around them. I certainly don't think everyone should be armed but this video didn't prove anything except that if a trained gunman bursts into a room, shoots the instructor and then turns the gun on you, you will probably die. That is the only situation this video addresses.

I ride the bus all the time. I've seen fights before and have avoided getting involved. However, if I saw someone in this situation I would have to step in and try to break it up or fend off the attacks until the police arrived. I understand some people not wanting to get involved, but if most of those people jumped in to defend that guy, those punks would not have stood a chance. The police can't be everywhere at once. Citizens have a responsibility to do something if at all possible. Luckily the victim suffered minor injuries but it could have easily been worse.
