Christmas Carols With GWAR!!!!

LordOderus says...

Super Upvote! I love Gwar

>> ^Drax:

Though I love that they're still around.. I saw them live in like, 1990 (and they'd been around for a good while before then). Is it even the same people under the costumes??

They have replaced 2 members from the original band. They plan on systematically replacing members over time as they get older and don't want to tour anymore so that GWAR will be around forever.

Honestly, how many people can recognize them without the costumes, or knows their real names?

He'll I'm a die hard fan from the early 90s and I can only recognize, name a few of them.

Young Boy strip searched by TSA

LordOderus says...

I can't believe this is considered acceptable by anyone. Children shouldn't be subjected to being patted down and strip searched. On top of all that, this happened in a crowded airport, in front of hundreds of strangers, out in the open where any one of those strangers can (and obviously did) see it happen and in this case even recorded it.

To clarify, I don't blame the person that recorded this video, but obviously the people responsible for strip searching a child in the open.

The "security" of this countries airports has gone completely insane. The system needs a massive overhaul.

Swarzenegger signs California bill decriminalizing Cannabis

LordOderus says...

I can't tell if QM was being serious or not, but I upvoted and agree with his statement. While decriminalizing marijuana is a big step in the right direction, legalizing it would be the best bet. Lets all hope that the marijuana users remember to vote in November!

Nina Paley's "Copying is not theft" - arrangement by Willbe

LordOderus says...

With the spread of the internet, we have seen a massive rise in copying or "piracy". I remember in the late 90s when Napster was toted as the death of the music industry. A few years ago it was The Pirate Bay, only this time it was killing the film industry. Lately the cry has been against the video game pirates, with programmers forcing draconian DRM software into their games. Software that only hurts the people that actually buy the games because it forces them to jump through hoops and does nothing to actually prevent piracy of the game.

After all this, after this decade or more of copying and piracy of all forms of media, we still have that media. The music industry is still alive and kicking. Movie studios are pumping out bigger budget movies every year, and video games are still produced, with a noticeable addition of many more independent developers getting their games to light. Games like Braid didn't come to the mass market 5-10 years ago. Now it is a name most every gamer knows.

If the sky has really been falling the past 10+ years, shouldn't we have been hit with something by now?

Ultraviolet Tattoos

LordOderus says...

I have one of these blacklight tattoos. Its the dark mark from Harry Potter. The scaring is about 90% invisible now, you can't see anything unless you know exactly where to look, and even then, it just looks like a faint line or two. I have had the tattoo for about a year and a half now and it still glows just as bright as it did when I first got it.

Parents letting their kids play in the ocean full of oil....

LordOderus says...

Man why is that beach open? I guess if it just washed up that morning maybe the authorities are unaware of the state it is in.
Between this, possible toxic rain (acid rain) killing crops:

the possibility that oil tainted water is raining in Louisiana:

I seriously expect that before this disaster is over, either Godzilla, Cthulu, or the Colverfield monster is going to wake up, come to the main land, and wreak havoc.

Either that or we will just be plagued by oily, zombie surfers....

Does the world need nuclear energy? - TED Debate

LordOderus says...

To be fair, the Soviets had many chances and a lot of time to stop Chernobyl from melting down by dropping the core into a giant lead and graphite plug that would seal it and stop the reaction. That is what they were supposed to do if a melt down started. However doing this ruins the plant and turns it into a giant paper weight. The engineers at Chernobyl repeatedly asked permission to drop the core and were denied by the government. In America, if a melt down was immanent, the plant engineers would drop the core because they wouldn't have to ask permission from the president to do so. The Soviets could have averted disaster by sacrificing their plant, but chose to try and stop the reaction AND save the plant so they didn't look foolish to the rest of the world. Uninformed, uneducated politicians were responsible for the Chernobyl disaster, not poor technology or incompetent engineers.

>> ^dingens:

As opposed to ... hmm, let's say, BPs incompetence? Sure, they don't run nuclear plants, but modern technology _can_ fail, especially when run by greedy bastards.

Cop who saved fawn faces jail, fines.

LordOderus says...

So wait...a cop saves a baby dear, and nurses it back to health, and him and his wife might be fined/imprisoned?

But, if a cop shoots an unarmed suspect, tasers a kid or an old lady, or just abuses their power and violate peoples rights, they get a paid vacation while their victims are subjected to slander and veiled threats by the police? Then the cop is usually cleared of all charges and put back to work?

Did I end up going through a magic mirror or something? Am I in the evil alternate earth? Shouldn't everyone have goatees?

Underwater Base Jumping

I can't swim, so I have a healthy fear of water. This video made me sweat and grip the edge of my chair in abstract terror. I'm amazed that guy is able to swim considering how gigantic his balls must be.

Bike Thief Revenge!!!

Happy Fox

LordOderus says...

I had a dog that was half huskie and half wolf. It was the most well trained and loyal dog I have ever had. I think any canine can be domesticated if you have had it since birth (or close to it) Hell a neighbor of mine has a pet deer. It hangs out in his mechanics garage and plays with the dog, and he didn't even have it since birth. It was a fawn that was on his lawn one day. He started feeding it and it hung around. After awhile he could pet it and play with it. After that it loved humans and anyone could go pet it and play with it and such.
