Ron Paul: BP Responsible, Not Obama!

Farhad2000 says...

I don't think land property rights extend to businesses caring for the land they possess. Look at Union Carbide or the chemical spill offs of the early 90s.

At the end it was social action of the populace that started holding businesses accountable.

>> ^MaxWilder:

Property rights make sense on land, because a disaster on your own property has a smaller chance of spreading to the entire region. Yeah, there is still some risk, but it's much lower. In the ocean, anything that goes wrong will have very far reaching repercussions.

Was Abraham Lincoln a Saint?

Farhad2000 says...

I feel it's only in America do people apply hagiographic accounts of their presidents.

I mean look how Ronald Reagan is considered by the Republican Party. Or Bush right after 9/11.

Historically one should however consider the historical context, Lincoln may have assaulted the US via infractions but look what his legacy created, a country on it's way emancipation and civil liberities. What has Bushes infractions created? Yeah.

I personally don't think any President should be viewed in overly rose tinted views.

The vuvuzela is gotten out of hand though even FIFA is considering banning it from future games.

I understand if they played it like when something cool happens but not fro the entirety of a 90 minutes game.

What city was this? In Iraq?

BTW, not EVERYONE thought Iraq had WMDs. Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, et al certainly knew better. Many of us may not have known better, but definitely didn't see Iraq as the threat that was being sold to us. Hopefully, we (Westerners, generally) are all wiser for it today.

Remember at the time everyone actually thought Iraq had WMDs, so what March came a rollin' everything got serious, curfews started, gas masks were issued for essential people and sirens were installed all over the city.

So yeah that play got cancelled.

How did the war prevent a play from being performed?

In reply to this comment by Farhad2000:
Reminds me when I acted in a Charles Dickens inspired play and then Gulf War 2 started and it was never performed.
