I agree. There has to be a very delicate balance to this, between contributors and editor control of content.

But I think sites like http://ffffound.com/ and http://www.metafilter.com/ and hell even http://www.somethingawful.com/ have shown that you can have it with adequate restrictions on members. We have it in a similar form but a far more liberal system of P status.

Videosift I think should try and become more Reddit like in its nature of editing content. At Reddit you can view the entire site content, or personalize subredits you want to see or add to the frontpage listing.

HTML5 can do what Flash did about 10 years ago. The standard is catching up but the implementation is all over as each browser is falling over each other to implement shit faster.

Adobe already demonstrated a Flash to HTML5 smart paste functionality in DW5.
