Pluto is not a Planet; CGP Grey explains

How Did Mitt Romney Get So Obscenely Rich?

Not that I am a huge fan of those who horde wealth, but its just a bare fact that the top 10 percent pay 70 percent of all of the income tax in this country..the top 1 percent pays 40 percent of that. The bottom 50 percent pays all of 3 percent. So you really can't say they aren't paying their fair share.

Wow!....Really?... I'm with Payback. I'm calling you out on that.

Because 87% of statistics are made up on the spot... Just not mine...

Dan Savage on the bible at High School Journalism convention

I really don't understand how our supposedly advanced species can still wallow in these moronic notions that are enforced by religion. The older I get the closer I come to a total lose of faith (ironic I know) in the decency of the human species and our ability to one day achieve a society and culture that leaves behind superstition, and flights of fancy, for an intelligent and peaceful (on a personal as well as societal scale) culture.

I am scared I don' know where we are headed and I am not seeing a light at the end of our tunnel.

Squirrel with a Bag Stuck on its Head

I would be scared to. Those little bastards bite hard, move quicker than you can blink and to top it off any bite is almost guaranteed to leave you needing more than a simple antibiotic treatment..

They don't taste to good so I'm never gonna try to catch one... again...

Cop-Killer Suspect Lunges

Our job is boring most of the time, the dangerous part is the fun part..

That mindset concerns me, fun is a word that should be dissociated with regards to protecting people and upholding the morale norms a society has chosen.

Fun is not what you get into that job for...

If you want to have fun go do it on your own time and in a manner that is not potentially degenerative towards society as a whole.

Cop-Killer Suspect Lunges

I'm in agreement with the no taze in this circumstance. It seems as though the call for a taze was to subdue and not to injure though.

The real question is what happened to him out of camera view? That would be the answer that validates my final conclusion of this situation, because it would describe the guards mindsets. Are they removing a threat from public or bullying a perceived (until proven guilty) cop killer.

Hippo Attack in Okavango Delta

One of (if not the top) killers of people in Africa. Incredibly territorial, they have been known to wipe out entire boats of tourists.

I once found myself starring into the jaws of one from the bow of a little aluminum fishing boat... I don't even recall my father yelling (or my grandfather laughing, he was crazy though) I was so scared.

Strong Mother Calms Her Son In Japan Earthquake - (3/11/11)

She is strong and her first thought was to keep her son from being too afraid.
That's all very great stuff--but for shit's sake at least get under a table.

I think the main objective in surviving an earthquake is to get under as little as possible.

This is very true from what I have read. I recall hearing you should lie down beside a large object (in her case the booth chair would work) which will prop up any debris instead of lying under something that will simple collapse under falling debris. Not many tables can hold up a falling building.

The Dream Crusher - What Are You Doing With Your Life!

Dread says...

I had to create an account to comment on this. I'm so sorry you have to experience this kind of abuse. Your mother is displaying some very classic examples of repressed emotional turmoil. Anger, frustration I don't know the cause and she most likely doesn't either. Unfortunately she has made her family around her (in this situation you) her outlet.

This type of activity also displays a trend towards either a sociopath or psychopathic mindset. A lack of consideration for the emotional distress and damage a person can inflict on another person simply because they do not have enough insight (emotional development) into themselves to see their negative impact on those around them.

There is little hope she will change, however you can still embrace the lessons you learn from watching her and hopefully live a life more aware of the people around you and how you can affect them.

Try showing her this video and ask her how she thinks she makes you feel.

My guess is she is not going to watch it though she probably can't face herself.

Please don't carry her emotional abuse forward and poison any children you might have in the future in the same manner that she possibly is.

She is not mentally fit to be a mother. Yes that is professional prognosis.
