I'm glad I got to experience that moment with my best friend and a few hundred other people :-)

Wiki summary:
As Obama and Chief Justice John G. Roberts recited the Oath of office, Obama interrupted Roberts as he administered the oath. Roberts then incorrectly recited the Oath of office, stating, "that I will execute the Office of President to the United States faithfully" (rather than "that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States"). Obama began to recite, and paused, whereby Roberts attempted to correct his mistake.[23] Several constitutional lawyers have said that Obama should retake the oath as soon as possible, as Calvin Coolidge and Chester A. Arthur did under similar circumstances.[24]

I'm sure he redid it already in private.

I watched the inauguration in a packed theater in my home town and it was an incredible experience for someone who's lost faith in his fellow Americans over the past 8 years.

FOX's Wallace: Is Obama Really Prez After Bobbled Oath?

Desviada says...

omigod . . . . a fumbled formality that can easily be remedied!!!

let's just ignore the state of disarray and corruption surrounding the voting procedures across our nation that really put into question who should and who should not be in various positions of power.

edit --
this just in: there, it's now officially a non-issue.

Bush Booed At Obama's Inauguration

Desviada says...

I'm sorry, I don't see how booing is bad form. Respect is something that should be earned, not given away. I don't care what the etiquette books say -- there is no reason for niceties when someone has used every bit of their power to destroy the lives of others. Bush has no respect for the common man, I see no reason why we should respect him.

And these ideas of automatically respecting someone of high office are carried over from times when royalty were thought of as more important than everymen. I think that sentiment is highly outdated.
